Everything adapts. Any major websites get ideas off of eachother. Yahoo was the first time I ever saw an avatar as far as using one. You get to dress it up and it greats you when you log on. I mean what other system has it where you can take those avatars in a lobby? or make a huge chat out of them? or even use them to get 8 people into a game and hop around to different games? it's not about "copying" what wii has, it's just a way to make it more virtual and feel like you're there more so than just being behind a controller

I can't wait for the NXE...mainly for the Avatars (among the other cool additions as well though) but I guess that's just me...like Raine said earlier...I would use points to buy my avatar some clothes

At the dashboard there is a box to click on that shows all about the new xbox exsperiance. The avatars are very important for the new dashboard to work correctly. Like when you pull up your friends list all your friends avatars will be there standing around and it will show you what they are doing. Their not going to just be there for you to dress up, but used through the whole dashboard to help you interact with your friends and other gamers. I think the fact that I have never had or played a wii is helping me grasp this concept better than some people. You need to look at this in a different way and then you will see that this is going to be the best thing since sliced bread. Xbox is going max hardcore, not wimping out.

i'm a little confused by all this...
i know we're getting nexflix (which i'm pumped about!) but what is NXE or whatever? and the whole avatar thing? do you mean to tell me that they will be replacing our gamer pics? or that you can click on someone's profile and it will show their avatar watching a movie or playing a game or doing whatever we're doing?
and when it comes to buying clothes for these avatars...
alot of good points made already, hahaha.
i think it's kinda stupid, but i did buy the FEAR pack... so who am i to talk i guess.
