i know taco i didn't care for it either. i just don't get these types of games, too slow paced and too much to do. i told you not to get it cuz you haz no patience for stuff like this like me. i'd rather play king kong 5 times in a row than this.

I understand that a game based on a post-apocalyptic future is supposed to be drab and ugly, dark and dirty. I get that.
That being said, I have a hard time getting into a game that looks this ugly. It's funny to me that Livewire referenced King Kong in this thread, because I see the same problems with the color palette in Fallout that I saw in KK. They used one color and just made it darker and lighter.
Elder Scrolls IV was a gorgeous game. It was very easy on the eyes, way back before the power of the 360 was even realized to it's full potential! The graphics in Fallout are a step back in my opinion, and the guns are no comparison to the medieval weapons in Oblivion.
I know that the game is more than graphics, but for GOTY, It MUST be scrutinized. It gets no free pass from Evol! Especially in the "year of years" for video game releases!
I'm not saying that this game is undeserving of the honor. OXM also chose this as their game of the year, and I usually agree with their opinions. I can just understand how people, (I for one) can disagree with the choice as easily as anyone can agree with it.
I know that I may get my ration of shit for this post, (especially since I'm such a well known and outspoken Fable fanboy! ) but we are all entitled to our opinion!!

:cracks knuckles: alright evoooool.....
i won't flame you for being a fable fanboy. i, for one, loved the first one.
fable 2 was uh... garbage... for lack of a better word, lol.
but anyway, yeah. to each their own.
how much of a chance did you give F3?
it took me around 10 hours to REALLY start liking it.
at 20 hours i was in love with the damn thing.
seriously, like you, i really didn't dig it at first. it's no lie that fallout 3's graphics are bland, for the most part. you pretty much see the same scenery over and over again. granted, we know it's supposed to look like that, but like you, i didn't care for it at first. everything else the game offers really makes up for it in my opinion.
you can visit lincoln's statue! you can ride an elevator to the top of the washington monument!
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoiler
there's even a quest that sends you to the museum of history to recover the decloration of independence!!!
again, to each their own, but after 20 hours i was in shock at how much i loved it.
first (and possibly last) 360 game i've ever continued playing after 1King it.
if my disc hadn't broke, i'd still be playing it. but it did, hence me playing F1 lol.

Noah!
I just know that Oblivion didn't need hours to reel me in!
I guess it's Bethesda's fault for having to compete with... well, Bethesda! I guess it is unfair to compare Fallout 3 to Elder Scrolls IV. They aren't the same game.
I promise that I WILL go back to this game eventually. Believe me, I want to like this game. I just don't know when I'll have the 10-20 hours required to get into it.

that's fair enough bro.
it really shouldn't take that long to get into, and i'll agree.
the first 10-20 hours are pretty much just stocking your dude and getting yourself comfortable.
and yeah, that kinda sucks, but it's worth it in the end.
once you get decently equipped with good guns, a bunch of stimpacks and a decent amount of ammo the game gets very enjoyable. at that point you can actually enjoy the story and history without the constant fear of running out of everything.
