He will, if they gave him the job, obviously he is well suited for it. Those are big shoes to fill. Lets just hope he doesn't screw up LIVE like EA tends to do for their online stuff.

Not always. Sometimes you get a guy who doesn't know what he's doing and he's given the job. =/

It will be interesting. This Shappert isn't replacing Peter Moore (that was his new boss Don Mattrick), but is being put into a newly created position. Mattrick came from EA as well, so we will see if this is buddies taking care of each other or a different strategy for long-term gain....

this is unreal, its doom for XBOX live.
ea carries a very bad reputation for not giving to the gamers, what they want.
enjoy live while you can, before you know it, he might try and pull something, that we will have to pay more for live
doesnt sound good at all to me =

Keep in mind that Microsoft is a heck of a lot better than EA, and there is specific strategy mapped out that would need people higher than these two to change.....Unless of course they come up with something better...Don;t expect Live to cost more, if anything it will become cheaper over time.

Are you suspecting they're pulling favors for each other?

Not exactly. Just saying that when someone news comes into a high ranking position at a company, they tend to bring in people from their previous stops to surround themselves with people they know and trust. Many times this is a good thing, but sometimes it is just the "Good Old Boys Club".
I do not think that is the case, as these guys both have proven track records.
As for peoples complaints about EA, they succeed in doing two things every year, making money for their shareholders and selling massive quantities of games. Whether people like EA or dislike them, they still seem to keep buying what they offer...
