The XBLA iteration of the game offers a lot of ways to help--3 difficulty levels that affect number of continues, whether you start with a shield, etc., plus you can start the game on any level you have reached, so if you die and stop playing on level 2-3 you can come right back later instead of having to start at 2-1. Playing the game 2-player co-op can help as well.
There are also a lot of extras included: tons of PDA levels which are mini-platforming and can be played with 1-3 friends over XBL, unlockable mini-games that either have certain moments from the game to play in a new format or else completely new games like Soviet Missile Mastar, and being able to collect new hats for your character by doing specific tasks adds some nice replay value along with the Achievements.
Alien Hominid is easily worth 800 points to folks that enjoy challenging action-platformers like Metal Slug 3, Contra and the like, but at 400 points it's practically mandatory for all.
The Achievements break down into 3 easy ones, 6 average ones and 3 difficult ones.
DLC for the title includes a small, free PDA level pack and then a huge PDA pack that costs Microsoft points.
