The negatives seem to far outweigh the positives. especially considering half the positives are negatives. Starting weapons being OP, uninteresting campaign etc.

I'm also not sure what the NEW dimension is? Mechs and Vehicles are in a ton of FPS games.

The overall weapon selection is smaller than the other current FPS games. The "starter" weapons are the carbine assault rifle, the shotgun and the smart pistol. I wouldn't call any of them over-powered, they are just each effective in more than one role/range, whereas all the unlockable weapons are fairly niche. To me, this is a positive and how an online shooter should be.

The campaign isn't uninteresting, it's just that you have pretty much no hand in it beyond winning or losing the match. I feel like this type of shooter, along with Call of Duty and Battlefield, doesn't need a traditional campaign anyway. The way they handle it here, with NPCs talking over comms and some stuff happening at the beginning and end of each match, serves the purpose of giving the game a story and each pilot a reason to be fighting. To me it is a positive that they don't try to shove the story down your throat or forcefully interrupt the action with cutscenes or quicktime events.

The reason the mechs here add a new dimension is because everyone has them, and everything you do works towards getting in to yours sooner or activating its core ability if you're already in one. The maps are made with the differences of scale in mind, and every pilot starts with an anti-titan weapon as well as the ability to "rodeo" enemy titans.

That's definitely a difference in taste. I prefer plenty of strategic depth and weapon selection. For a game with no single player campaign you would think they would at least offer up plenty of weapons to master and Titan customization. I also believe a offline single player mode should be a requirement for a 60 dollar game.

What keeps you coming back for more? How does 200+ matches with the default assault rifle and same maps keep anyone content? I played a few matches and enjoyed it but I don't get the long term appeal.

I'd imagine it follows the same guidelines that has you continually singing the praises of games that are developed in The Far East.

Plus from what I've seen of your fps skill in Halo your viewpoints on them are more based on the fact that generally you're not very good at them.

1) Not sure how the guidelines of Lost Odyssey (for example) and Titanfall would be anything alike.

2) Forgetting the fact we have only played together once and I did above average. I do not constantly bad mouth Halo so your logic is invalid. In fact i'm in the minority for praising Halo 4 opposed to obsessing over Halo 3.

There is plenty of strategic depth, as the titan and anti-titan weapons also factor in, as do the ordnance choices. I feel like they covered most of their bases except it's odd that there is only one shotgun and only one true sniping rifle.

When I say I feel it's how an online shooter "should be", what I mean is that the starting weapons are well-balanced against each other and remain useful even when you have unlocked every other gun. This makes the game approachable for n00bs and also eases the sting of "prestiging" and losing so many options.

Overall though, I do think they shot themselves in the foot by releasing Titanfall at the $60 pricepoint. $30 for the 360 version and $40 for the XB1 would have been more reasonable, and I think the first (if not all) map pack should be free.

As far as the long term appeal, it's honestly hard for me to say. We will have to see what's up in another 3 or 4 months, see if it still feels fresh and fun.

I don't see how limiting the weapons adds anything to an online shooter. Let's use Battlefield as an example. There is what, a 100+ guns in BF and many people have made the argument that most of them are crap. BUT I like having that option to use one of those and still do well with it. It adds to my gameplay that everyone can see I got the crap gun and still kicked their ass. It also lends to playing in New ways that I would not have tried otherwise. Just one example of depth that I expect out of a modern fps game. Titanfall is lacking in so many of these types of things. It just feels like a game mode in what a full game should be. People have been complaining for years that campaign modes have gotten shorter and shorter. Now it's just been cut out completely and and on top of that a half featured shooter experience and we're all lined up to give them our money. You all know what happens when a game hits big time. Look in the future for many half assed games at full price....Thud!!! (that was me dropping the mic)

I would personally rather have a smaller selection of weapons that are all useful compared to 80 percent of them being junk weapons.

I agree about guns, I'd rather have useful ones than a bunch of crap. But I also don't like a full priced release with 1/2 a game that is nickel and dime-ing us for a couple of maps as dlc.
