lmao, there is little reason that this lady should've won, unless the coffee was way hot. Although third degree burns kind of prove that. Why did she just sit there for 90 seconds, is kind of beyond me though.
But most likely stuff like that would just be dismissed, optimal temperature coffee will burn lol, just not that badly. >.>

lol that reminds me of that seinfeld episode where kramer sued a coffee shop cause he spilled hot coffee on himself (damn american english spell check >.>
Actually, a lady sued McDonald's for that very reason and won.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebeck_v._McDonald's_Restaurants
There's more to it than just spilling it on herself. She won because they had the temperature of the coffee at numerous McDonald's tested. And almost every one had the coffee way hotter than it should have been. I don't recall the exact temp that it was at, but I remember asking about it when I was 14 and worked there, and that is what the manager had said. The heaters can be set inside a panel, they had them set really high.
This is why they now use the "caution hot" cups and the lids at McD's and anywhere else that serves it.

the point i was trying to make with that coffee lawsuit was that the lady was dumb for filing that lawsuit due to her own negligence. yes i understand the coffee was too hot, but what about the millions of other customers who also buys the same coffee and yet no one complains? she was careless and wasn't careful when opening the coffee which caused it to spill on her.
^to relate it to this topic, the guy who is filing the lawsuit against Gamestop is just as dumb as the lady. it's his own negligence that led to it, you can't blame Gamestop for it. if he is a gamer or has some sense, he should know that a "one time code" will most likely be used already if you buy a used game. the employee couldn't have told him about it because how could he (employee) have known that this customer was buying the game with the intent of getting the DLC also? how many times have you actually heard a Gamestop worker telling a customer "since that game is used, the DLC code inside has probably been used up also" or a customer asking "does the DLC code that comes with this used game still work?"
meh, just my 2 cents... -_-

well, in lady's case she actually got hurt, and other customers probably either knew/liked/or didn't notice that it was so hot
as for this guy, everyone knows about used games, he lost like 15 bucks due to his own stupidity and filing for fraud? >.>

but the lady got hurt due to her own stupidity also. who puts a cup of hot coffee between your legs while you try to open it while wearing thin clothes? she was just asking for an accident.
btw, did they invent those cup sleeves yet back then in the early 90s? you know, those things they put around cups so your hands don't get hot?

You're lucky, I'm lucky if I can get out of my local Gamestop in under an hour because there's never anyone in there and the employees have sooooo much to say about games!

people can file lawsuits against almost any stupid thing these days. you can probably walk down the street, stare at someone's car the wrong way, and get a lawsuit claiming you had the intent to steal the car -___-
You better keep your eyes off my car.........lol
