Gears I'm with you, but I didn't think Halo was bad at all for achievements.
As for mine I have to say Final Fantasy and now Assassin's Creed. I don't know why, but I absolutely can't get enough of the AC series. Its just great overall and to me totally worth paying the $60 brand new.
Halo I could live without even though its my favorite shooter series.

I have to agree with AssCreed being an awesome franchise. I haven't finished Brotherhood yet but I think I could definitely consider it a new franchise addiction, as I will probably buy or rent the next one even if I haven't finished the last one yet.
Depending on how the third games are, Gears of War and Mass Effect will be my newest addictions. ME2 was so freaking great, and I enjoyed playing Gears 2 with friends more than I have ever enjoyed any shooter.

Halo and Gears of War. I am such a Halo geek i even own almost everything made that has Halo on it! Toys, clothes, statues you name it. I love the whole Halo universe and can't wait to see what 343 studios does with it.

Mine are Assassin's creed, Dirt series, and the NFS series even though most of the NFS games got crappy I still love them.
