Is it wrong for me to assume you can't sign up for this anymore?

It told me I was accepted after I finished registering, but I apparently got an email telling me didn't get in. So I don't get it. Rad.

Will we be able to use our avatar awards once we all get the update? I had heard rumors of them changing the avatars completely?
According to the 'Beta Blade' in the Dashboard, Avatar Awards will come available after the update goes out to everyone
Edit: Here's what's stated on the M$ Connect site about the current Dashboard Beta about known issues which some of us already know about....
* Party or Individual Chat - Because you are participating in an exclusive pre-release program, you will not be able to voice chat with non-participants during the program period. This will not be an issue when the update launches to all Xbox LIVE users later this Fall. Game chat is expected to function as usual and should not be impacted by this change.
* Avatar Clothes / Props - Any clothes, or props that have been purchased via marketplace or downloaded from the service will not appear on your avatar and will represent themselves as a "!" in the avatar closet. This content will continue to remain with this account and will be updated with the release of Kinect. Any awards awarded to your account will still be awarded and will be available once updated from the service.

I have heard that everyone that put in there application for the beta will get accepted. They are just allowing a certain number of people in at a time in individual waves. This is the first wave, the next wave should be (if my source is correct) next week or the week after. But everyone who put in there application should get in before the actual update is officially released.
I haven't tried to get in any other of the update betas so I'm not sure about this next peice of information. But I was also told that they did the same thing during the NXE beta. They had people put in applications but only a certain number of people got into it at first, but then another wave or two was released (after they said no one else would get in the update preview)
So I guess all is not lost after all....we will just have to wait and see what happens

So you're saying I might get in later?

yes...if they do as I have been told they did in the past. It is still a good chance that you will get in. I don't know how many waves will be done and when they will be done. But if you put in your application then it is a good chance that you will get in before the official release of the update.
But then again, do not hold me to this, as they may not do as they did in the past, but I don't see why they wouldn't
Keep ya head up

I'm watching my first live streaming game on the ESPN thing and it looks really good! It's full HD and not choppy or anything, better quality than expected.

i'm not a fan of the new dashboard. sure you could say it's just because i think change is bad but, it seems much too flat to me.

Wait yours come in HD. Mine sure doesn't. I wonder if that has to do with the ISP cuz I have a HD tv but it just doesn't look good or sound as good as you are talking.
I was getting mine in HD as well when I was watching... I think it all comes down to your ISP and maybe if you're hardwired or wirelessly connected...
I have a decent ISP and am hooked up wirelessly and almost (90% of the time) get to watch movies on Netflix in HD if it's offered...
My router is about 15 ft away from my 360 as well...
