The next question is would anything get screwed up, if she were playing a WP game using my Windows Live ID and gamertag while I play either the same or a different game on my phone? I really do not want to have to buy all of these games all over again. Thanks for any info!

WP7 Question
07/05/12 10:41 am | #1
I have a quick question about Windows Phone, and I'm hoping some WP7 users can help. I'm currently considering picking up another WP for my girlfriend. My question is, can I load all of the games that I've already purchased onto her phone, and still have them on mine as well? In a perfect world, she should be able to play them using her GT and Windows Live account, but I'm perfectly find with letting her use mine if that is the only way.
The next question is would anything get screwed up, if she were playing a WP game using my Windows Live ID and gamertag while I play either the same or a different game on my phone? I really do not want to have to buy all of these games all over again. Thanks for any info!

I can answer 1 of those questions - I was playing Fallout 3 PC on GFWL on my gamertag while my kids were watching Netflix on my xbox logged into my gamertag. No red flags no warning lights, everything was fine. But that was a while ago.

A gamertag can only be on one phone at a time and you cannot share games. She will either have to borrow your phone or purchase the games that she wants to play.

Ah, I was afraid of that. Looks like Microsoft is loosing the sale of another Windows Phone; I love the OS, but am definitely not double dipping on games. I suppose she could always play Flowerz, lol.

False. You can have your GT on as many phones as you're willing to buy. Here is my gamertag on both of my phones:
Now you can't have more than one live I.D. per phone.
If you bought any games on a previous phone, they are tethered to the live I.D. you bought it with. That means if you put your GT on a new phone, you have access to all of the games you purchased besides delisted ones. If your girlfriend uses her live I.D. she will have to buy all of her games.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Evol, I just got finished reading a similar thing here. It looks like you are limited to five Windows Phones or devices tethered to your Live ID. I'm perfectly fine with her earning achievements through my gamertag
Now can she set up email and the facebook app and such separate from my Live ID? I know that Windows Phone tries to mesh everything together through your live ID, but for example my email account is different from my live ID, as is my Facebook and Twitter account. Could I use my Live ID on the phone so that she can access all the games I have purchased, but then set her own information up for email, facebook, etc?

I have a lot of my apps and one of my hotmails on my live ID, and it makes it much simpler, but with a little bit of setup, she can integrate other things pretty easily.
I don't use twitter, but for Facebook, even with the integration I choose to open the desktop version with my web browser. It's much better in my opinion.

Yes, everything is separate. My fb email isn't the same as my live ID. Actually my live id is an unused for anything else email address. She can have her phone completely customized for her, even with her own Zune, and then just have your gamertag.

Alright, one more question; anyone have any experience with the LG Quantum? I'm looking for a phone under $200, and that one fits the bill running about $147 on Amazon, and it has a slide out keyboard which I'm sure she'll really like; she hasn't mastered the all touch screen yet.
