The title says it all...
This thread is for everyone to share their plans, ideas and opinions regarding what will, what won't, and what might work in a zombie infested world. Everyone seems to have differing opinions on how to survive in an Undead Apocalypse, but I think we can all agree that PREPARATION is the most fundamental key to survival here. As the old adage goes, "It's never too late, until it's too late"

Don't hold back: What is YOUR zombie plan?

First of all, I'm going to recruit every friend I have to join forces with me. To me companionship is the single most important element to survival.
Other than that, I'm really not sure... Probably hunker down in a suburb: Close-by to a big city for the scavenging possibilities, but hopefully not so close that we attract swarms of the undead to us... Either way, always have at least 2 back doors if the front door should fall!!!

That might be first come first serve... Would you allow other survivors inside?

Walmart sounds good, but I think it would attract too much attention. I would very carefully go from house to house in the suburbs. Daytime only - no lights at night. I live where it's hot during the day - can you imagine what all of that dead flesh walking around would smell like??

Go out to my cousin's land. He has a garden, livestock, and enough munitions to put him on several watch-lists. His wife is a Registered Nurse, so basic first-aid and pharmacology is under wraps.
My cousin and I are both proficient in firearm usage/maintenance (Licensed...though probably not relevant post-zombie world).

A lot of other contingencies are in place, but no need to go in to much detail...

Well first off I live in Wyoming so I feel we're pretty safe out here, ESPECIALLY if the zombies attack in the winter cause not even alive people make it through that snow.

But for plans I keep my car at least half full just out of habit (I used to live way out of town - my parents still own that house to think of it, pretty much an armoury, BRING IT ZOMBIES!) That half tank (or more) can get me at least 250+ miles, enough to get to an isolated part of the state near a historic fort or by some rock formations that would create a natural fort (not to mention I know a few caves that would be easily defendable).

Food would be the biggest problem, I'd probably be scavenging gas stations on the way after stocking up food at the begining. Being WY though there aren't many people to begin with meaning few zombies so the wildlife will remain relatively unharmed allowing for hunting for food.

The only variable remaining would be who to take and what happens when the ammo finally does run out - Plus how hard do you have to swing a baseball bat to take out a zombie anyway?

Anyone you trust... Surviving by yourself isn't much fun I imagine.
Hopefully you're baseball bat is aluminum? I imagine any swing that would land you a double would score you a knock-out :p

On the note of weaponry though, I'd want a crow-bar... Slightly unwieldy but definitely multi-purpose. The only ranged weapon I'd want is something with retrievable/easily-replaceable ammunition, like a compound bow or a wrist rocket slingshot.

Can zombies be KO'd? I don't think they can, I think you have to actually kill them which means crush the skull and that could be rough on a moving target, of course the bat and a tennis racket are really the only things I could get quickly (come to think of it I actually keep a racket in my car at all times...), of course if I'm making a quick stop at a store a hammer or crowbar would definatly be on my to get list.

My thoughts on who to bring is that first I won't know where I am or where anyone else is and the phone sysem will probably crash pretty quickly due to being overloaded so I'd be grabbing folks and getting out of dodge as quickly as possible, if I were to have to set out solo you best bet I'd be trying to group up with someone pretty quickly after the initial chaos died down.

How long would you have to survive before all of the zombies would decay to a point that they would fall apart? Walking around like that would (I imagine) would speed up the process.

I suppose that would depend on the type of zombies you're pitted up against. Sometimes it's a parasite that reanimates a dead body, sometimes it's an infection that kills higher brain function, sometimes it's radiation poisoning etc... Based on different literature I've read, it could take anywhere from a couple months to a few years for them to die off of starvation...

It might not be possible to out-wait them, depending on the conditions.

If they aren't eating survivors on a regular basis, maybe they go cannibal?

Yeah, if you apply real world physics to a Zombie Apocalypse....just got to make it to the Winter, where they would end up freezing in place....but, it stands to reason that they would then thaw out. Provided they do not "starve", but they might simply be in stasis. Hell I once had minnows in a bucket that froze, and when the water thawed, some of them lived.

I suppose it depends on the nature of the "disease". If it is simply parasitic, then they would freeze and then die in the Winter....maybe.

As someone stated above, traveling would generally degenerate their physical form (as they would not possess the cell regenerative properties that we do...unless feeding did something to this effect)

Unless there is a high level Necromancer out there casting Raise Dead...then we all fekked

im kinda surprised no on said a boat, if a zombiepocolypse happened that would be one of the safest places, sailing around on a boat cuz last time i checked they can't swim. also i know everyone want's to fight them and chop the heads off but truthfully i think most people (me as well) would be fighting to get away from the dead people and trying to stay alive.

if i had to choose 1 place/location i think it would be around the cost, near a beach or some sort of natural rocky/cliff formation, mostly since it's easily defended and you would be close to the ocean in case you needed to make a quick escape.
