For me it would be a compound bow for medium range and a sword for up close. Long range would be hide and evade. For my last resort - shotgun.

Something I really hadn't thought of before but it keeps coming up - sound. I saw a zombie movie called 2012:Zombie Apocalypse and I have read a few reviews about the games Dayz and in both sound plays a major role, which means that anything loud is gonna get the zombie's attention.

Sound is probably going to be huge, I agree.
Book I just finished, Day by Day: Armageddon to Exile, made use of an interesting weapon: A nuclear bomb that emitted a very loud screeching noise for the first 24 hours before detonation, effectively drawing masses of undead towards the sound.
Using that method, it might be handy to have a slingshot with some loud firecrackers in your arsenal, to create a diversion if you need one.

I have also been thinking about traps for large groups of zombies. Get a bunch following / chasing you and lead them into an alley with a fence on one end. Hop over the fence, run around to the other side and slam a gate on the mass following you, effectively trapping them. Then comes the flammable liquid of your choice, and what ever source of fire you might like.

Depending on their numbers, they might have enough weight to simply topple the fence over that you climbed. However, you could probably get away with skipping the step of circling around and gating them in and just set them on fire after you hop over... I don't think they'll retreat even when their flesh is burning. Oh the smell though!

We have a food distribution warehouse just down the road that built like a freakin fort. The building is surrounded by fencing which I hope would a least slow down the less ambitious zombies. I'd use the equipment to pull down all the pallets of frozen food to barricade the dock doors, in case the zombies are climbers. Then I would gorge myself on dried goods until the zeds wre taken care of by the well-armed Americans in the area.
It would kinda suck to not play some video games, though.

Fortunately I and several of my neighbors and friends have plenty of weapons and ammo we could hold our own if the "ZomPac" were to ever occur. My thinking is the problem would be food. We would be okay for a while though.

That brings up a good point: What food will be most readily available and how to get it... When food isn't easy to come by, every calorie counts. Supply runs into town will most likely be a dangerous event, so an alternative food source would be ideal.
If you TRULY have a secluded spot that you can safely defend, having your own garden would be awesome.

Being that I live in California, Napa isn't far off (hic!) and we have a lot of open space around here. There are tons of farms and many small towns. I really doubt that the shuffling horde will be scouting around open farm areas so I think that I would be safe for a long while. Besides, once I got my hands on a wheat combine, I think that I would go looking for the zombie pack!!
