Every Westinghouse my friend's or relatives have gotten shit out a few months after the 2 year warranty was up.
I'd go with Sony or Samsung (I know neither are a choice, but if you look them up in Consumer Reports you wouldn't want to buy any other brand).

What's funny is that my future brother-in-law bought that RCA TV from Wal-Mart just last week. Personally I thought the picture was great unless you wanted to play games on it. I played a few matches of Black Ops on that TV and it had a horrible blur effect when you would turn. He ended up taking it back and getting a TV from a different place. Plus it gave me headaches from looking at it for only a hour.

Well I'm looking to get a new TV an LCD for around $500. I have it narrowed down to 2:
A Westinghouse 42"
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Westinghouse-TX-42F810G/15727494
And an RCA 42"
http://www.walmart.com/ip/RCA-42LA45RQ/15562439
Don't have much experience with either brand and I was wondering if anyone has either of these TV's or has ever bought one of these brand and how good are they. Any help would be much appreciated

Go with LED. LCD's are decent, but picture quality sucks compared to plasmas and LED's.

That is a pretty sick TV. I might have to get me one of those. Pretty decent price for an LED that size

I don't think plasmas have a higher picture quality. I mean, I've heard it before, but in my experience it's not true. Also, plasmas are cheaper than LCDs... most likely for a reason. Evol has a DLP and even that has a better picture quality than a plasma. I also don't think the LED picture quality is so much better than LCD that it justifies paying double the price.
On topic, Vizio or Sony Bravia... both are affordable, good picture, good for gaming, and last. IME, anyway. I still have my Vizio from 2006. It's lasted through 5 moves (including going to germany and back), a baby who likes to play drums on the screen, and hundreds of gaming hours. We are in the market for a new TV since my brother took one of ours, and I'll be replacing it with a Bravia soon.
Are you kidding? LED's have such a crisper picture than LCD's. Most LCD's are not viewable when viewing from the side. If you are not looking straight at it, you are losing picture quality. LED's eliminated that.

This is a pretty big investment so you wont wanna waste your money on shit tv just because its cheap. Spend the extra money and just get a Sony Bravia or a Samsung. And as AJ mentioned they are the top rated brands on the consumer reports, take a look at what the comments have to say.

After asking for advice, and being given several good choices to pick from you chose.....a SHARP?
