The Most ANNOYING Achievement...
01/19/12 5:01 pm | #1
Hello All,
This is my first post not involving the introduction post. I looked at other posts and got the idea to create this post. This isn't about the hardest achievement you've obtained or the proudest but rather which one grinds your gears and you're still trying to obtain.
For me it is "Drift Lap" (Getting 100K in a single lap) from Forza 3. Seriously, it is a 5 point (P.O.S.) achievement, and the last one I have to get for a full 1000. It's funny I've put in over 200 hours getting all of the other achievements (including Solid Gold) and for that achievement to stop my 1000 is killing me! I have put in about 13-15 hours after I took a break and the most I've come up with is 60,000. SIGH................
This is just to vent backed up frustration and to see what's on the mind of other XBA users as well.

Most annoying achievement (thus far) -- Sneak King Completionist... because of ONE stupid (I dare say glitched) level!

Seriously 3.0... I'll get it eventually. It may kill me though...

Speed Run in Braid.
You have to learn the entire game forward and backward. You have 45 minutes to beat the entire game. More than 1 or 2 fuckups and you're done.
25 points. -_-

I'll agree with that. But besides those I'll throw in achievements that require you have the hardware for them...
4 controllers in 2010 FIFA World Cup (5gs keeping me from 1k),
Xbox Vision Camera in Rainbow Six Vegas 1 (30gs) and 2 (20gs keeping me from 1k)
Even worse is Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts which requires you to purchase Banjo-Kazooie (which is 1200 points) to be able to earn an achievement worth 0gs

You do know you can rewind, right? My first go for drift lap I got 267,000+ points.
I don't understand why so many people have a problem with this achievement, if you play the really long Japanese track in reverse and use the unlimited rewind feature there's honestly no reason why you shouldn't be able to get it.
Pick up an Evolution, mod it to around 600-800hp, turn off stability and traction control and turn manual transmission on. Put the car in 3rd gear and never change the gear throughout the whole race. You should have no problem getting 5,000-8,000 a drift. If you screw up on a curve, rewind and try it again until you get the most points you think you can get while leaving yourself set up for the next curve.

Any achievement that I miss because the game does not stack difficulty.

I second Vermillion Haze. Even games that are incredibly fun become boring when you have to play through it a second time on a lower difficulty...or maybe it's just me.

For me, it's any achievement that has me spending hours trying to get all the collectables.

Yeah actually this was a pretty easy achievement. I used the HKS Time Attack Evo on the Fujimi Kaido reverse, with no assists and got in on my first try.
OT: I agree with Beaver, Seriously 3.0 is gonna take some serious time to get.

Thanks guys for all of the responses. I did use rewind, LOTS of TIMES. Me and that achievement just didn't click the way I wanted it to. I may have to face the fact that I will have to put in man-hours for it. I may not be good at it. I turned all assists off as suggested in my prior attempts but I would slide out of the lane and lose the points. I also used YouTube, looking for video guides but I didn't find anything to ease the pain. I will try what you guys suggested and hopefully I will get that so I can feel at ease about the game.

The only one I can say I had fun doing this for is: GTA IV. I was just having too much fun with that game. Sadly I did that with both GTA III and GTA VC (both PS2 and Xbox) and GTA: San Andreas before there were achievements.

Wow!!!! When you say that, you make me think of CoD: WaW. The fact that one achievement has you prestiging ten times for zero points is beyond ridiculous. I only got to 63 on my first prestige before I lost interest. I will eventually get it but I stopped playing most of them dang FPS, WASTE OF TIME.
