Sherlock Holmes vs Jack The Ripper, returns you to the roots of Sherlock Holmes and allows you to actually get involved with the mystery and come up with your own conclusions. The story is really good and tells about the murders of Jack the Ripper, from beginning until end. You help show Holmes/Watson, the clues to come up with the truth of what is going on.
You must investigate the townsfolk and areas of Whitechapel to uncover the clues of the mystery. You begin the story behind the eyes of the killer and witness the murder that takes place. You then find yourself in the home of Holmes and Dr Watson. Both find out about the murders via the local newspaper and want to investigate to find out the truth.
During gameplay, you are allowed to choose between a 3rd Person or First Person Perspective. You must examine everything and leave no stone unturned. You also must figure out what is right from wrong in certain situations in the game. Using the interface, to review clues is very simple and easy to use. Combining certain tools and finding what you need is also easy. Finding where to go, is also guided by Holmes/Watson. You must also deduct what has occured at the scene of the crime, to be able to tell correct facts from wrong. You will also find facts/documents from many locations, and must use those clues to recreate the mysteries.
The voiceover work is okay at best, however the music of the game sets the tone perfectly for this mystery. The graphics are also about ps2 level and are not too impressive. Even though these seem to set the tone for a boring game, surprisingly it does not hinder the games performance. Every other corner of the story leaves you with wanting more.
The length of the game is about 6 hours long, and shorter if you are good at solving the many puzzles in the game (which are not difficult), however in that time, you find yourself wanting to find everything and complete this mystery.
Achievement wise, you will have no issues getting every single one in one playthrough. Some are more obvious than others, but very easy nonetheless. There is also an online guide that will reveal everything to really make your path 1k, really easy.
All in all, a Really Good game for the price. I enjoyed it very much and recommend it to everyone, if you enjoy a good mystery story.
I rate it as the Following
