Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival

Has anyone her ever been to Mayhem Fest? I went last year for the first time and it was amazing! I think a lot to do with the awesomeness last year was the lineup. It's not bad this year, but it's not as good as last. Here's this year's lineup if anyone is interested.

Main Stage:

Five Finger Death Punch

Machine Head
Job For A Cowboy
Butcher Babies

It's a metal festival, dawg. LOL! I love hip-hop, but I don't like going to the shows. It's such a different atmosphere and I just don't dig with hip-hop show atmosphere like I do the metal shows.

I went a couple years back when Disturbed and Slipknot were the big names closing out the show. I actually went just for Mastodon and Dragonforce, though.

I would go this year for Behemoth and Amon Amarth, two of my favourites, but I couldn't justify the price or inconvenience for just 2 bands. There are some other decent ones but still not worth standing out in the damn daylight for so many hours.

I don't particularly like Children of Bodom or Job for a Cowboy anymore but they are both great live. I've heard Rob Zombie's shows are good too.

I went last year particularly for Slipknot, Whitechapel, and As I Lay Dying. Also ended up really enjoying Motorhead and Slayer and I found a new band I didn't even know that I like a bit called I The Breather.

I've gone every year since the festival was announced with a few of my friends, always a good time, there hasn't been a Cleveland date announced yet but we plan on going to PA if they don't announce a show at Blossom. Mastodon, Machine Head, Job for a Cowboy, Behemoth, and Born of Osiris are all bands that I like and I don't mind a few of the other bands either so it should be fun again.

Bump, so they seemed to not announce a Blossom date near me and tickets already went on sale, ended up grabbing tickets to the PA show, if you guys want good seats (that aren't lawn) you might wanna grab your tickets ASAP, the indoor seats seem to go pretty quick (already half gone in PA).

"seats" WTF? it's not standing room only/General Admission for the areas right in front of the stage?

Yeah, that sure is some metal mayhem right there, boi, bunch of dudes sitting around drinking garbage drinks and texting on their phones during the songs. \m/ right?!?!

LOL nah, there IS a pit area right in front of the stage but it's not a very big space and I'm pretty sure that shit sells out like day one, then there's the pavilion seating areas, then general admission is lawn. Me and my buddy get pavilion seats every year since for an extra 10-15 dollars you're WAY closer and don't have to deal with assholes running into you or getting all up in your space, plus most people stand in the pavilion to watch the show anyways, MUCH better sound quality when closer to the main stage.

Yeah it was the same way at the big fancy horse track here when I went to Mayhem Fest.

Definite agree on the sound quality thing--at a big open venue like that, being in the mid-range area where you're close to the stage but not standing in front of the speaker stacks is superb.

As far as the drunk idiots bumping in to you when you're trying to enjoy the music? That's what "ridiculous" spiked gauntlets are for. If the security goons won't let them in then you're at a poser mall-metal show anyway :nerd:

Let us know how that shit is, man. I want to know if Behemoth can still bring the energy after Nergal did the cancer recovery thing, and to make sure Blowjob for a Cowboy haven't gotten too fat and rich yet to play their own material :laugh:

Ahahaha, last time I saw Behemoth was actually the last time they were on Mayhem Fest and they were pretty epic live, they came out in full body armor and face paint and the like even though it was 95 degrees out :rofl:

I don't really ever listen to the JFaC CDs for more than a day or so but they're usually pretty heavy and solid live, seen em quite a few times.

I got lucky and got involved in a pre-sale my local radio station was doing and got pretty good seats. Last year was my first year and I was on the lawn. It wasn't bad really besides on really, really drunk dude that was next to us who we later learned went to take a piss and passed out in the bathroom for the remainder of the show and the sun was beating down on us pretty hard. Glad to have pavilion seats this year.
