This semester, 2 of my classes pop "in person" assignments on me. For one, I have to interview a PR professional. Guess who is too busy working as a PR professional to answer my questions? Any PR professional I contact. Except for the one who would "love to help," but requires 2 week notice for interviews. I didn't even get 2 week notice ffs.
Other class- I have to find a company that will let me look through their office correspondence and interview 4 employees to do a communications audit. Seriously. So far no company has even responded to me reaching out. My teacher put in the syllabus that she would spend the first half of the semester giving us advice for approaching companies and tips for writing questions... she didn't. I emailed her to ask for help... no answer.
I fucking hate this school. If I had time in daylight hours to do schoolwork, I'd be taking classes in person so I'd at least have on campus connections. π

Online courses are supposed to be strictly online from what i remember. I've never had a course that made me do something outside of the computer. I agree talk to the department dean.

I've had a class that required me to go to a church that I wasn't a member of, and a class that required me to volunteer for the environment in some way. Those were easy because the participation was completely on my side and didn't require other people to take time out of their days to speak to me. I've got someone for the PR interview who technically isn't a PR agent, but does PR, and if she doesn't like it, it's only a 50 point assignment. It would suck to get a zero, but I think I can still pull out an A. This other assignment- interviewing 4 people and auditing a company's communication... it's 200 points.
I feel like a whiny baby because I know I'll need an internship next year, and when I graduate I'll have to work daytime hours, but at this point in my life I don't have that time. I don't have that inclination. They're like "reach out to friends and family and other students for ideas..." uhhh yeah- we don't have friends here- I'm a mom, I interact almost exclusively with people I gave birth to. π

Communication. I'm doing writing emphasis, but I have to do a survey of the other emphases, so I have to do a survey of business communication and or classes.
To make things worse, we have some stuff going on with the youngest kid right now, and I'm busier than normal. π‘
