You probably lost because you didn't have freeze watermelon launchers in the middle. You had too many cat-tails!

You should've also had the Chile or Cherry Bomb to stop the gargantuans from crushing your Floom Glooms!

Chile/Cherry Bomb
Pumpkin
Big Mushroom
Floom Gloom
Coffee Bean
The Blocking Tree
Both Watermelon Launchers
Cat Tail
Freeze Mushroom
And Imitator Freeze Shroom or Pumpkin.

I made best friends with the freeze mushrooms from 32 on. If it weren't for them, and using the cherries, chiles, and that green squash plant, i wouldn't have made it.

My setup for when I was good, and I only had 9 slots mind you

1. Regular Purple Mushroom
2. Octopus Purple Mushroom
3. Coffee Bean
4. Pumpkin
5. Freeze Shrrom
6. Imitator Freeze Shroom
7. Squash
8. Cherry Bomb
9. Chile

yeah I know their not the right names, but you know what I mean lol. every once and a while, I would switch out the chile for a damn lily pad to plant more purple shrooms in the water.

So on the top I numbered your selections, and I also numbered on the field, where you could use help

One thing I will say, is you NEED pumpkins on EVERYTHING!

You had too many cattails, you only need the two for the balloon folks, that is it! Make sure where you have the two extra cattails, you replace with the double sunflowers, as you will NEED the sun power in the late 30s. I put arrows showing where you should put the sunflowers.

Where I put the numbers, just be sure and replace those plants with the ones that are numbered. You will be good if you do this. Also in the circled area with the bounce plants, replace those, as you do not need them. Instead use a freeze melon plant in their place. Also on the number 2, to the left of it, you have a freeze melon plant, replace that with a number 2 as well.

Also, make good use of the freeze shrooms, and of course the chiles, cherry bombs, and squash, to wipe out the Evil Gargantuan bastards.

If something goes wrong, focus your efforts on the hurt area and you will make it through the flags, do not panic.

Hope this helps, and hopefully you get the 40th flag!

Once you hit the 40th flag, the achieve wont pop, only when you lose. I say make it to 41 to be safe lol.

EDIT: I made the pic look nicer lol. so just look at the picture, and it will give you the idea. looks just like the first pic I posted a few posts back,

I would lose those extra cat tails. I followed the first pic you posted on the front page. That one needed almost zero maintenance, it did all the work for you and you end up with 9,990 sun.

I agree, the first pic I posted is flawless.

All that is needed is freeze shroom managing on later levels, and pumpkin replacement. Then just spam the chiles, cherry bombs, and squash, on the gargantuans with red eyes. the regular ones will drop with little to no extra effort.

I replaced all the sunflowers with cattails when I was at 9,990 sun. I didn't even have problems with the red eyed dudes...
