I was just looking up this game, and the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 had some jazz music. Who the fuck puts jazz music in a fighting game? It's not like Barry White is a playable character.
As for the 30 character thing, if there aren't 150 characters, than I ain't buying jack.

The "official" title thread is the link you mentioned, all I did was the standard thing of combining a news thread with a previously created thread for discussion.
On topic, I have to ask Super, why isn't Jazz music suited for fighting games?
I mean it sounds to me like its your taste in music that makes you dislike it, I personally loved the feel the music created in the previous ones. I think Jazz creates a more relaxed feel to the game. I guess its all taste though right?
I haven't looked at too many details but I'm always leery about purchasing a sequel solely on its predecessor - especially when that was on a last generation console.

It's not that I don't despise Jazz music, I just don't feel that it's suited to match the mood of a fighting game. Fighting games like Marvel vs. Capcom as if I remember correctly, it's fast paced and very... action-y. My taste in music doesn't affect whether I like a game or not, unless it contradicts the mood and feel of the game.
I assure you the last thing that goes through my mind when I listen to jazz is a guy getting punched in the face.
And it's not just the music, it's the roster of characters that concern me the most.
Another thing I have to admit is that the total time I spent playing the games for this series is probably no more than fifteen minutes. because back then I sucked at fighting games.

Ok there are like 4 threads for this game so I wasn't sure where to post but apparently this one got the thumbs-up, so here it goes:
A couple friends of mine have acquired the game through illicit means and we've been playing it pretty much all day. Before you get on a high horse and bitch, you should know that both of them already have it pre-ordered and paid off--they are complete fighting game nuts, so much so that they feel like they have to illegally download them ahead of time just to get a feel for the game and early practice.
ANYWAY, suffice it to say MvC3 is fun. The visuals look even better in motion than screen shots suggest, and the sound effects are all terrific.
Here is the official complete character lineup:
Marvel: Capt America, Deadpool, Dr Doom, Dormammu,
Hulk, Iron Man, Magneto, MODOK, Phoenix, Sentinel*, She-Hulk,
Spider-Man, Storm, Super Skrull, Taskmaster*, Thor, Wolverine, X-23
Capcom: Akuma* (SSF2'), Albert Wesker (Resident Evil), Amaterasu (Okami),
Arthur (Ghosts 'n Goblins), Chris Redfield (RE), Chun-Li (SF2),
Crimson Viper (SF4), Dante (Devil May Cry), Felicia (Darkstalkers),
Hsien-Ko* (Darkstalkers), Mike Haggar (Final Fight),
Morrigan (Darkstalkers), Nathan Spencer (Bionic Commando),
Ryu (SF), Trish (DMC), Tron Bonne (MegaMan Legends),
Viewtiful Joe, Zero (MegaMan X)
Future DLC: Jill Valentine, Shuma-Gorath
I haven't tried everyone yet, but those I have were fun and fairly easy to get in to. The specials are nice and flashy, but there have been some weird changes to the way assists work. You still choose 1 of 3 for each person on your team, but you can only call them in when you arent doing something else.
In a way, this is good as it alleviates some of the retarded chaos from MvC2 where you would have 4 characters jumping around on the screen throwing energy and getting hit. You can still nuke your opponent's off-characters if you time it just right, but it is less common. Backup characters also seem to heal their red energy a little faster now.
The control scheme is down to 4 main buttons (light, medium, heavy and special) and then 2 assists, one for each of your other characters. The special button isn't used for things like fireballs but instead for starting aerial combos and the like. People who were upset with Tatsunoko vs Capcom because of the simplification and contextual differences of controls may be up in arms about this at first, but MvC3 really doesn't suffer for losing a couple buttons. If anything, it is smoother and more fun now, even if a little slower overall.
Arcade mode on Normal difficulty is paced well and not too hard. The last 1 or 2 matchups may give you trouble, and the final boss is a son of a bitch until you get a feel for how he works, but there is nothing as crazy-hard as Seth from SF4.
Without spoiling anything, I can definitely say fans of previous VS games, and/or Street Fighters and other Capcom fighting games will enjoy this title. There are only 4 characters to be unlocked and you can do so very quickly, so that is good if you just want to start beating up friends and bad if you liked the single-player points grind of MvC2.
After the game releases this coming week, I will play through some more and get in a lot of online, then possibly do a review if noone else does. Fighting game fans will not be disappointed!
*these characters must be unlocked
+edit+ I forgot to mention that the way they did endings is retarded. Instead of the nice, fully-voiced and -animated shorts in Street Fighter 4, you just get a few lines of text and 3 static images, most of which are pretty but boring.
+edit2+ I would be willing to bet my teeth that the second round of DLC characters will include Frank West from Dead Rising, as he was already present in earlier builds of this game, which also means Chuck from DR2 may show up. Other possibilities are Juri from SSF4, Juggernaut, Cable and maybe the Punisher. What do you guys think?

Bastards.....lol
Hrm. I do want to check the game out myself, but thanks for the little mini-review Meta. Nice to know they didn't kill the franchise (or sounds like they didn't).
