I wish you success, Michael!

I actually DID quit cold turkey. It's been 2 1/2 years since I threw down a half a smoke and told Melissa I was done and I haven't cheated once. Different things work for different people. I quit cold turkey about 10 years ago and lasted 8 months and screwed it all up with one bad day, so I guess I didn't have the motivation the first time.

I definitely agree with Irish that you must distance yourself from smokers as much as possible. Melissa has never smoked and we were about to have a baby, so really there was no room for smoking in my life. With the proper motivation and being surrounded with non-smokers, I found the strength to walk away and stay away!

I hope that anyone trying to quit finds the same strength in whatever way they need!

Thanks for the support. With me, it's all mental. I can beat the addiction to nicotine. I think I need to find something to keep my mind off cigarettes.

Perhaps look into e-cigs. I started doing that a little over a year ago. Hits just like a cig. I can go on and on about it's benefits. If you are interested PM me and I can get and give you a ton of info. There is a website I get my stuff off of that's inexpensive and shipping is lightning fast.
