my NAT settings

this is really driving me nuts, lol.
i have no idea how to check my nat settings. i've been searching online for ways for about 30 minutes now and all i'm getting is "go here and type in your router #" and all kinds of bullshit. all i really want to know is if my settings are set at strict or open. how can i find this out?

my guess is strict. i have never had a problem connecting to shockwave, who lives like 1500 miles away, but i can't connect with someone live evol, who lives like... shit... 6 hours away? LOL i mean what the frick. (sorry to use you guys as an example, but yeah. bogus)
i can even connect with people from the goddamn UK in gears 1.

anyway, if there is a way to easily check my NAT settings, please help me out here. if i get some advice and actually figure that out, i'll post again if i need help changing it from strict to open or whatever.

EPIC BUMP! lol
anyway, we need a new router asap.

long story short, we had a belkin and it sucked.
i bought a linksys (which was awesome!) but it died. it was refurbished.

i appreciate meg's help, because she totally pointed me in the right direction, but i bought something that couldn't be found "new" anymore. this is where you come in! i want a new router that lets me connect and boost with my friends while still allowing full internet access. i don't torrent or anything, but i want something that allows my wife to get online while i grind it out. WITHOUT messing with my NAT settings and all that.

this is where you post awesome routers lol. any help is greatly appreciated.

Get this one, it's fuckin' great, I'm host every time I play MW2. It wouldn't let me use the URL button so here's the link.

Pop in MW2 and go to MP, it should say on the right side of your screen whether your NAT is strict, moderate, or open....on second thought is this what you are even asking about haha:rofl:

That's the router that I have now, it works really good

That's the router that I have now, it works really good

It's a beast that's for sure. We have 6 computers, a 360, and our neighbor leaches off of us and it's always super quick!

I Goya the same one or really similar to it and I can never seem to be host!! Well maybe I don't check but in cod4 I was never. I got 1 computer , ps3 xbox and an iPod Maybes mine Is less powerful

edit: on mw2 it shows that my nat connection is moderate. Is that a good thing? And if not how do I change it
