if you the surgery, I think you should try to keep worse case scenarios out of your mind and hope for the best, worrying will only make you more nervous

Did the doctor have any kind of numbers to throw around? Like 75% chance the operation will be successful and you'll have almost normal back function with the brace for 2 years?
Are they sure the fusion will alleviate your back pain?

Many people here don't that I've had the same type of surgery as Junior. Different cause for my back problem. Junior, you will fine. It's not as bad as what you think. It's perfectly natural to think of the worse situations. Those worse situations won't happen. Good luck on the surgery.

I didn't even pay attention to the date so I was reading this whole thread as if you had posted this earlier today, lol. Didn't realize you had posted in November til I saw the "Update" post just now.
To me, its always seemed like a patient's psychiatric health was more important to a doctor than anything. In my experience, a doctor will give you a worst case scenario but 99% of the time it will never happen. They will tell you its gonna be a long and rough road to recovery and it could take 2 years to be at good health again but most of the time it won't take as long as they say because they don't want you to focus on what its gonna be like at the end, they want you to focus on the present and putting everything you have into getting better and its a huge morale booster and when you feel better about the situation now, your journey through recovery will become that much easier.

I agree. My recovery didn't take as long as what they were telling me.

Good luck Junior. I wish you the best and a speedy recovery. It's probably best not to think about the worst case scenario.
Plus, it sounds cool to get to where a brace called the NINJA!

Look at Adrian Peterson. But of course AD is a freak of nature and isn't human.

Chronic pain just sux. So if this surgery can alleviate most, if not all of it, I would be happy. Of course, I am not the one that is facing the knife, so my vantage point is a little different than yours.
Stay strong, think positive, and keep gaming. Good luck.

Thanks again for all of the comments everyone. I really do appreciate them.
Only 3 days left, and I go under the knife. I am sure everything will be good, but I am still nervous as hell. Thursday, I go do all the pre op appointments and so on, so I will be busy like crazy this weekend.
So if I am not on Live for a while passed this weekend, or on here. then you folks know I am having an interesting recovery.
Thanks again all, and I hope to update this thread soon in the few weeks to come with some good news.
