I was always more interested in the consorts other gift. However the orb/trinket she gives you is just a key to some prothean ruins on one of the unexplored worlds. Don't see why it would come into play in MEII.
Edit: Don't know if anyones interested but I just found out how to get Kelly Chambers as a war asset. The explaination may contain minor spoilers as she is only a minor character.

For anyone who's beat the campaign, I'm curious as to how you get your galaxy at war/theaters of war map up in % from the single player? I got it up to 100% the one night playing multiplayer, but haven't touched the mp since and it's been steadily declining every day and is now down to 92% even though I have a maxed out asset bar...is multiplayer the only way to raise it up?

You can get through the final battle at 50% - I did. But if you want that achievement you have to get it all up to 100%.

I have "From Ashes" installed but I don't have the "Priority: Eden Prime" mission, nothing happens when I go to Eden Prime and theres no email about it at my terminal. Am I missing something?

It popped up just fine for me. It was the first mission I did once I had control of the Normandy.
Now I'm just stuck at the title screen with "Connecting to EA Servers..." for the past 5 minutes. WTF?
