Hardware-related question
07/16/11 5:25 am | #1
I know that a PC keyboard and/or mouse can be hooked up through the USB ports on the 360 for use on a game such as Final Fantasy IX. Does the 360 recognize a PC keyboard and/or mouse for any other games?

Not as far as I know with any other games besides chat/text entry on the dashboard.

It does, although it can get expensive. Here's a few links to the XCM XFPS 5.0. You need a wired controller, plug and play doesn't work. It roughly $90 - $100. That however is the newest model. If you chose the 3.0 or 4.0 it would be cheaper. I wouldn't personally recommend those because they had a few problems and the 5.0 fixes most of them. To each their own though. Heres a few links to where you can buy it.

I may have needed to be less vague in my question. What I specifically want to know is, can I use a USB keyboard and/or mouse for playing Command & Conquer 3 on the 360? I have played earlier entries in the C & C series on PC, so trying to play on a controller doesn't allow for the speed and reaction time that I am used to.

I attempted, once upon a time, to use a K&M with C&C3 on the Xbox to no avail. So, in short, no; there is no Keyboard and Mouse support for C&C3 Xbox.
Nuts, I had a hunch that it might not be possible, but I was hoping that it could be done. Thanks for the answer, Aldemar.

C&C3 sucks with a controller, they should of had K&M support.

And that's exactly why I was asking.

Would it work to just replace the internals of the xbox 360s that I have that fried? Well, they didn't fry just red ringed...IDK, I have two 360's that are just sitting in a bag and I would like to do something with them. Call it a project, I already found a case and shit, but I was just wondering if I could get some opinions from you guys.
Thanks!
Thanks!

My opinion, YOU SUCK!
I don't really understand your question. You have 2 360's, one is red ringed and the other works? If that's the case, just use the one that works...

Yeah I guess I didn't really explain myself that well.
I have two 360's that red ringed, quite a long time ago. I just have them sitting in a bag in the closet. I was thinking about just gutting them and putting new components in the 360. Well, maybe not all the components, but just what needs repaired.
