IS it a lawful command to randomly tell someone to leave their vehicle with no cause and without ever asking them if they were drinking or intoxicated at what is supposed to be a DUI checkpoint?

"It's ok to take away Constitutional rights away when it's a matter of safety"

IMO it's always a matter of safety and it's never ok.

Good job bickering about the belligerence though. We all know many cops are "just enough" employees that do the minimum and go on power trips when their fat asses are threatened.

And the whole thing with the K9 unit, I have had that exact situation happen before, where I did not consent to a search so they got a dog to present a false-positive so they could search it anyway.

Yes the kid was being a shithead, he was filming, he obviously was trying to prove something...

....and he did. We are all living in an agreed police state that has ambiguous "laws" enforced.

He had cause, though. The kid was not following police orders. Technically, he was not ordered out, the cop requested it and the kid obeyed. Had the cop opened the car door and muscled the kid out, that might be different. But the kid was being a shithead and still following requests, just after arguing. He was acting like a 3 year old and needs to grow up. Everyone who pulls these stunts needs to fucking grow up.

People don't always have to push boundaries. Sometimes it's ok to just do what the police say and get where you're going on time.

Had he rolled down his window, he would have been asked for id, and the id wouldn't have even been glanced at and he would have been waved through. That's what happens at these stupid things for people who can follow directions. Their constitutional rights aren't violated, their cars aren't searched, they aren't given any questionable orders and the world doesn't collapse on itself.

This is NOT a police state, agreed or otherwise. If it was, police wouldn't have to have consent or a positive k9 drug hit to search a car, and video taping it wouldn't matter. Dirty cops like the one who cavity searched those 2 high chicks on the freeway in Texas wouldn't get fired for not following protocol. In a police state, checkpoints would be the norm, and wouldn't just be during holiday pushes to end drunk driving. 10,000 people are killed a year and 350,000 are injured from drunk drivers and not a single one is killed or hurt because they rolled down their window all the way instead of leaving it cracked when a police officer asked them to.

And yes it's always a matter of safety- like the safety of the cops who have to walk up to cars without knowing who is in them, what they are on and what they're packing, and don't need "Junior Mclawschool Stringbean Esq" trying to challenge the Supreme Court though the power of his iPhone and YouTube to make their jobs tougher. The whole thing is stupid and light years away from what people actually should be worrying about.

Checkpoints ARE the norm, they are set out every weekend and for every big case of crooked cops that actually makes it to the media there are several cases that don't.

We can all agree that this kid was provoking but I find y'all's responses to the officers' words and actions unsettling.

And for the record, I would already have been crying a river before AJ even had to get out the law enforcement accessory.

I've seen one checkpoint in the 3 years I've lived here and never up North.

Yeah, the cop is an ass, but we shouldn't know that because the kid should have rolled down his window instead of wasting the cops' time and taxpayer money over this shit. I just identify more with the cop than the kid. We can always find excuses for people on the side we are on. The video makes me want to taze the smart/dumb ass. Probably not his intention, but hell- that's why I'm not a cop.
