Before anyone flames me for this, as I know guides are not our thing here, I wanted to preserve this. I originally made this guide back when I was boosting Gears on a regular basis. This guide was originally made on XBH, on 08/04/2010, which is shutting down its site next month. I spent a LOT of time making this, and as stated, want to preserve it, so it will not have been for nothing.

I am not doing it to try to clutter the Live feed or anything, or to try to get people to follow in my footsteps.

That said, here goes:

I got the idea from Mike doing Gears 2, he inspired me.

This will cover how to get 1250 in the game eventually. I am going on vacation tomorrow morning, but wanted to make sure no one did it while I was away.

I have been working on Seriously for some time and only need 2 more Achievements to complete (1250) this game, This Is Annex... and Seriously.....

I will get this started when I get home.

You can easily get all but Seriously in a month's time and at least 2 weeks of that will be This Is Annex.

Breakdown will be as follows:
Play-through 1 on Casual
Play-through 2 on Insane Co-Op

Your first Play-through can be done Solo, or as the Host of a Co-Op, and this is when you should be going for all the Cog Tags and your Reload Achievements.

Completed Act 1 on Casual 10 GS
Completed Act 2 on Casual 10 GS
Completed Act 3 on Casual 10 GS
Completed Act 4 on Casual 10 GS
Completed Act 5 on Casual 10 GS
Mercenary 10 GS
Complete all acts on Casual Difficulty

Time to Remember 10 GS
Recover one-third of the COG tags (on any difficulty)
See "For the Fallen"

Honor-Bound 20 GS
Recover two-thirds of the COG tags (on any difficulty)
See "For the Fallen"

For the Fallen 30 GS
Recover all of the COG tags (on any difficulty)
Follow a guide on your Casual Play-through to collect all the Cog Tags in the game. There will be a Gears of War Symbol in the vicinity of every Cog Tag. The video I used to find them all no longer exists, but after a bit of searching, I did find this one, which features all 30 Cog Tag Locations and shows the Crimson Omen as well. Cog Tag Locations

Zen and the Art of Reloading 10 GS
Perform 25 perfect active reloads (on any difficulty).
Simple, select your Pistol, shoot 1 bullet, and press "RB" This will start the reload meter, press "RB" again when the meter is in the White section, and you will get an Active Reload. Learn this early on, as the Active Reload will add damage to your bullets for a short period of time.

Zen and the Art Part 2 20 GS
Perform 5 perfect active reloads in a row (on any difficulty).
Do the same as above, but get 5 in a row, this can be tricky, just be patient.

Your second Play-through will be on Insane, which will also get you all the Hardcore Achievements, and should be done in Co-Op, as the 2nd player, for the Co-Op Achievements.

My Love for You Is Like a Truck 30 GS
Defeat a Berserker on Hardcore Difficulty.
I thought for sure that I unlocked this during my Insane playthrough, but other places say it has to be on Hardcore. My advise is to just do your Casual, and then your Insane playthroughs. This can be done in Solo or Co-Op, if in Co-Op, both people will get it no matter who delivers the killing blow. If it doesn't unlock in Insane, just redo the Final Chapter of Act 1, China Shop, on Hardcore.

Broken Fingers 30 GS
Defeat a Corpser on Hardcore Difficulty.

Defeat General RAAM on Hardcore Difficulty.

Complete 1 co-op chapter as Dominic Santiago on any difficulty.
You MUST be the 2nd player for this Achievement, have a friend invite you to their game for this. If your friend also needs these Achievements just play both the Casual and Insane Play-throughs in Co-Op mode, one of you hosting the entire Casual campaign, and the other hosting the entire Insane campaign.

Domination 20 GS
Complete 10 different co-op chapters as Dominic Santiago on any difficulty.
You MUST be the 2nd player for this Achievement, have a friend invite you to their game for this.

I Can't Quit You Dom 30 GS
Complete all acts in co-op as Dominic Santiago on any difficulty.
You MUST be the 2nd player for this Achievement, have a friend invite you to their game for this.

Now we start into the Online Boosting. This is best done with 6 people, as you will each get 30 kills a match, but can also be done with 8 people, but you would only get 28 kills per match and it will take longer. You want to set up your matches as Ranked, Warzone, 19 rounds, Round Duration 4 minutes (unless noted otherwise).

A Series of Tubes 20 GS
Host and complete 50 ranked matches.
Easiest way of netting this is to set the match to 1 minute matches if you have a full set of boosters, and 1 round, or maybe 2-3 minutes if it's just you, to minimize the chance of a Draw happening. Raven Down or War Machine are the recommended maps for this.

Clusterluck 20 GS
Kill 3 enemies at once 10 different times (on any difficulty or online).
This is actually easiest to get while boosting the online achievements, especially while going for the Boomshot, Torque Bow, or Hammer of Dawn weapon achievements.

Fall Down Go Boom 20 GS
Kill 100 enemies in ranked matches with the Boomshot.
Easiest way to do this is with Boosting, have all the opposing team stand together and aim at the guy in the middle. This is for 100 kills so blowing up all 3 at once still counts as 3 kills. This method will also help you get your Clusterluck Achievement if you do not have it yet. After your turn to win is over, just have the last guy stay out of the group and blow up the remainder. Use the Subway map for this. Boomshot is located inside the Subway Terminal in the middle section, next to the free standing wall.

The Nuge 20 GS
Kill 100 enemies in ranked matches with the Torque Bow.
Again, easiest way to do this is with Boosting, have all the opposing team stand together and aim at the guy in the middle. This is for 100 kills so blowing up all 3 at once still counts as 3 kills. This method will also help you get your Clusterluck Achievement if you do not have it yet. After your turn to win is over, just have the last guy stay out of the group and blow up the remainder. Use the Subway map for this. Torque Bow is located inside the Subway Terminal, inside the Subway Car that can be walked through, next to the stairs.

Don't Hurt 'Em 20 GS
Kill 100 enemies in ranked matches with the Hammer of Dawn.
Once again, easiest way to do this is with Boosting, have all the opposing team stand together and aim at the guy in the middle. This is for 100 kills so blowing up all 3 at once still counts as 3 kills. This method will also help you get your Clusterluck Achievement if you do not have it yet. After your turn to win is over, just have the last guy stay out of the group and blow up the remainder. Use the Rooftops map for this. Hammer of Dawn is located inside the little building before going up to the rooftop.

The Money Shot 20 GS
Kill 100 enemies in ranked matches with a headshot.
It is best to do this at the same time as the Longshot or Pistol Achievements, as you will get 2 at once.

Pistolero 20 GS
Kill 100 enemies in ranked matches with a pistol.
Do your headshots at the same time, if you have not already done them with the Longshot, as this will get you 2 Achievements at the same time.

I Spy with My Little Eye 20 GS
Kill 100 enemies in ranked matches with the Longshot.
Do your headshots at the same time, if you have not already done them with the Pistol. This way you are doing 2 Achievements at once. Use the War Machine map for this one.

It's a Massacre 10 GS
Kill 100 enemies in ranked matches with the Chainsaw.
You rev your Chainsaw by holding in the "B" button, simply walk up to your opponent and you are 1 kill closer to that sound we all love so much. They have to be a standing opponent to count towards your Chainsaw kills. If they are downed, it is an execution.

Is It a Spider 30 GS
Kill 100 enemies in ranked matches with grenade tag.
Make sure you tag each individual player while boosting this. This is "TAGS" not people killed, so if you blow up all 3 boosters on the other team with 1 grenade, it only counts as 1 tag.

Don't You Die On Me 10 GS
Revive 100 teammates in ranked matches.
Easiest in Boosting. Have 1 person on each team get all revives every single round. You can revive each team mate 2 times, which makes 4 per round. This achievement will only take 1 game to get, if it does not glitch.

Curb Appeal 20 GS
Kill 100 enemies in ranked matches with the curb stomp.
Best way to down your enemy is to equip your Pistol, shoot them 2-3 times and then press "B" to melee them 1 or 2 times, whichever it takes to down them. Then, press "X" to stomp their little head in the dirt, and feel victorious in your victorious massacre.

Capital Punishment 20 GS
Kill 100 enemies in ranked matches with an execution.
Down the opponent as you would for the Curb Stomp, but instead of stomping them, shoot their head as they are down, or Chainsaw them as they are down, and it counts as an execution.

Don't Hate the Player 10 GS
Finish with the highest points in a ranked match.
This will pretty much be yours if you go this route: Go for your Revives, and Executions or Curb Stomps in the SAME match. This way you are getting the Revive points, as well as the Points for the Downs AND Kills.

Always Remember Your First 10 GS
Finish playing a versus ranked match

Mix It Up 20 GS
Win a ranked match in every versus game type.
Simply make 1 game, with the lowest settings in each, and win. You will have to do this 2 times, so everyone in the group will get the achievement. Make sure you stay on the same teams. You only need to do Warzone, Assassination, and Execution for this.

Around the World 30 GS
Win a ranked match on every versus map.
For the whole group to get this, you will need to do 2 matches on each map. Do 2 minutes or so, to give enough time for the game, but to make it quicker, everyone should just head to the middle. The maps needed are as follows: Canals, Clocktower, Escalation, Fuel Depot, Gridlock, Mansion, Mausoleum, Rooftops, Tyro Station, and War Machine.

Can't Touch Me 20 GS
Win 10 ranked matches without losing a round.
This is easiest done while going for "A Series of Tubes" as each match is only 1 minute, and make sure everyone stays on the same teams, everyone in the group will have it after 20 matches.

Seriously ... 50 GS
Kill 10,000 people in versus ranked match total.
First and foremost, this achievement is glitched. Nobody I know with this achievement got it at 10,000 kills. It unlocks somewhere between 10k and 15k on average. What is a must is that the whole game HAS TO HAVE 6 players minimum, with a minimum of 3 vs 3 for the kills of that round to count. There will be times when the game puts up a message about the connection, and to press "B" to cancel out of the match. DO NOT PRESS "B", JUST WAIT AND THE MESSAGE WILL GO AWAY AFTER A LITTLE BIT. If you back out, you will have 5 other people pissed off at you for screwing them out of the kills they got in that boost session.

First things first. All of the following Achievements can be done in player matches with a 2nd controller.

DLC: 'Hidden Fronts' Multiplayer Map Pack 2
This is a free DLC that adds 5 Achievements for a total of 150 Points.

You Down With E.P.I.C? 30 GS
Win a multiplayer match of 3+ rounds in any game type on 6 different downloadable maps.
This is just like Around the World, but it is for the DLC maps. Can be done on any game type. Easiest would be to use Warzone. If you get the other 4 Achievements in this DLC pack first, you will only have 2 maps left to win on. The other 2 are: Old Bones, and Raven Down. If you plan on knocking this one out first, the full list of 6 maps is: Bullet Marsh, Garden, Old Bones, Process, Raven Down, and Subway. Note: Has to be 3+ rounds.

The Next 4 Achievements can be done the Quick Way, which is what I posted in the descriptions, or the Annex Way, to count the wins towards This is Annex! No matter what way you choose, it MUST be 3 rounds or more, but the minimum required is 3 rounds, and for Annex it will have to be a minimum of 120 points per round. Also, the Quick Way's below are assuming that the 2nd account/2nd controller is the Locust.

Green Thumb 30 GS
Win 20 multiplayer matches of 3+ rounds in any game type on the Garden multiplayer map
Quick Way: Use 2 controllers and have the second account/2nd controller run into the Greenhouse, with the mist, and the character will die in the poison gas. Repeat a total of 3 times per match, after 20 matches, the achievement is yours.

Mind the Gap 30 GS
Win 20 multiplayer matches of 3+ rounds in any game type on the Subway multiplayer map
Quick Way: Use 2 controllers and have the second account/2nd controller run to the grenades and commit suicide. If you spawn inside the building, the grenades will be to the right, on the other side of the tracks against the wayy, under the window. It is quicker to go through the Subway Car. If you spawn outside, run down the stairs on the left, turn right at the bottom, and again go through the Subway Car. Repeat a total of 3 times per match, after 20 matches, the achievement is yours.

Purdy Mouth 30 GS
Win 20 multiplayer matches of 3+ rounds in any game type on the Bullet Marsh multiplayer map
Quick Way: Use 2 controllers and have the second account/2nd controller run into any dark area, and the character will die from the Kryll. Repeat a total of 3 times per match, after 20 matches, the achievement is yours.

All That Juice 30 GS
Win 20 multiplayer matches of 3+ rounds in any game type on the Process multiplayer map
Quick Way: Use 2 controllers and have the second account/2nd controller run up the stairs and to the right to get the grenades and commit suicide(ONLY ON ROUNDS 1 & 3. For Round 2, you will have to use your controller to actually go kill the 2nd account). Repeat a total of 3 times per match, after 20 matches, the achievement is yours.

DLC: Game Title Update
This is a free DLC that adds 3 Achievements for a total of 100 Points.

THIS! IS! ANNEX! 40 GS
Complete 100 multiplayer matches of 3+ rounds in Annex and capture 3 objectives in each match.
This achievement can be a real grind. It can also be somewhat easy, if you went for all through other DLC achievements using Annex for them. If you did, then you will only need 20 more matches to get this bad boy. If you used the easy method on the other DLC achievements, you will have to grind the full 100 matches. That's what I did, and it sucks, as of 09/06/10, I do not have this yet, as it is boring, and I have little patience, lol. Note: Has to be 3+ rounds, just do 3 to save you some time, use 120 points, as it is the lowest setting, and grind away.

Inconceivable! 30 GS
Win 20 rounds of multiplayer matches in Annex by fewer than 5 points.
Pretty easy to do. Use the 2 controller method, set the game to 3 rounds, 120 points. Use the account that you DO NOT want the achievement on to cap the first objective, and then to control the 2nd objective as well. While this controller is getting the points on the 2nd cap, make sure to get your controller, the one getting the achievement, over there to break it. Wait until the other player has 116 points to break it. 115 WILL NOT COUNT AS IT HAS TO BE FEWER THAN 5 POINTS. Then after breaking the count, finish that cap with your account and win the round. This is for 20 ROUNDS, so it will unlock after 7 games.

Nub Pwn3r 30 GS
Win 20 rounds of multiplayer matches in Annex by shutting out the opposing team.
Simple to do. Use the 2 controller method, set the game to 3 rounds, 120 points, and just use the account you want the achievement on to cap both objectives to win the round. This is 20 ROUNDS, so it will only take 7 games to get it.

Good job on the guide. It may not be what this site is known for but that could always change, the more guides up the more people will come here and possibly make other guides

I personally would love to make guides for this site seeing as no one really does but all my free time is spent achievement whoring these days so it doesn't leave alot of time to track my steps while I'm playing. I may make one too, you have inspired me, lol.

Great guide the only thing I can mention is that I don't think the matches have to finish as 3 vs 3....as long as the host doesn't quit all kills should count. I have gotten a couple kill (weapon x times) achievements in a less than 3 vs 3 match, and I even got one in a match that eventually wittled down to a 1 vs 2 match. Of course I don't have the seriously achievement, so I can not personally confirm this fact as being applicable for that achievement, however I have talked to a couple guys that have said they got it with less than 3 vs 3 matches.

I guess that's what happens when websites change in the 2 years since i made the guide and linked the vids, lol.
