Gears 3 Beta will allow your "buddy" to play May 8th

So you've been dying to play the Gears 3 beta and didn't pick up Bulletstorm or find yourself a code yet? Well good news is coming your way....if you have friends playing the beta..
Starting May 8th, the Gears of War 3 beta will become more public due to players earning "buddy tokens" which will allow friends to join you in trying to retro lancer charge your enemies or seeing how many idiots uhh enemies can be killed in one sawed off shotgun blast. Up to 5 tokens can be earned (by US residents only) through playing the beta, playing the beta for 20 hours, playing all gears games for over 100 hours and by purchasing Gears stuff in the marketplace and renewing your gold membership.
What does this mean? Everyone will get one token to give away, while avid gears beta testers and players will likely earn three. You need to hurry though as the cutoff to earn these tokens is tomorrow May 4th. So get out there and give everyone the chance to earn that coveted beta tester medal.

so makes me wonder why basically they are making this accessable to everyone?!? ive read a few places that it could be due to the number of players participating the beta being lower then expected but i mean with the number of good games out right now is to be imagined

I saw that as well. I forget which website I saw it on, but they had said that Gears 3 pre-order sales were looking fantastic, but couldn't figure out why the beta wasn't getting enough attention. Probably due to Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat. Not to mention, Halo Reach is by far a better game than Gears.

How is this going to work? No disc? No code? For example; Mini (or whomever) and I party up on LIVE and he invites me to his game lobby and off we go to play Gears 3. There's gonna be some sort of DLC, right? It seems to me that there is a lot of missing material here.

It'll be a code you put in on the dashboard like normal then it downloads and you can access it from the games library just like a normal arcade game I believe, that's how my VIP one worked anyways...what if you don't have any friends like AJ though?
