Great thing about when they do this in-store, you can return 1 or 2 of the games you paid for within 7 days for full refund and still keep the free game.
Whoever told you that is completely wrong and is against Gamestop policy. Whenever someone tries to do a return, and if it shows they took advantage of the b2g1 sale, they must bring back ALL 3 titles in order to get any kind of refund.
If the employee doesn't tell the customer this and follows the rule, they could face consequences up to termination, as that is creating a shrink/theft problem.
It works all the time at my local store and in the store about 30 minutes away as well.

And those stores are breaking company policy. They are not allowed to do that at all. I cannot and wont ever allow such a thing to happen at my store, as I wouldn't want to get fired for something so stupid, so people can get a freebie, which is really just stealing.

I am in a quarrel with my new store manager, and am currently waiting to have a meeting with out District Manager, about the new SM's decisions on how he is treating current employees, and how he is hurting the store. So after that meeting, my decision will be made. I am hoping they just fire my ass instead of messing me over like this, that way I can make more money getting unemployment and all.
But, I not fired yet, and know all company policy and guidelines and always uphold them, no matter what. And that goes for any company I work for.

Such a good employee. Insubordination all the way!

How is that insubordination? He has been making questionable management decisions, hurting the staff in hours and in other productive areas. Not providing proper customer service to every customer that walks into the store. Not properly handling in store stock (otherwise, missing games due to his misfiling and messy manner), etc.
He is not a good management fit for the store I am working at. The reason we had to switch managers, is my prior manager, was an awesome manager, and got stores into tip top shape without hurting any of the above listed situations. He got transferred to do the same awesome job at another store. This new manager is just flat out junk, and just worries about getting a reservation or subscription sale, rather than going above and beyond for his customers and employees. He is just a greedy, self absorbed, messy, horrible worker.
So I tried actually talking to him about whats going on, and basically, he would just rather talk shit than have a real meeting. So I contacted my District Manager, in hopes of him, getting through to this guy.
So to call it insubordination, is completely off of the mark. I am just an efficient person, who would rather make things right for the company than just one individual.

I've never had to bring them all back to return one, but that's because I always just get a different game for the same price. I've seen people try that before, and the employees at the gamestops I've been at always tell them that they can only refund them the difference in price from the games they're returning and the free game, that is no longer free. So if someone bought 2 $50 games and got a $45 game free, and they returned the $50 games, they'd only get $55 back. From what I've heard, out here the system is set up to do that automatically when the receipt is scanned.
I've never heard of having to bring back all 3, as there are legitimate reasons that people may want to keep the free one, and they can't really be forced to return it, although they can be forced to pay for it.
The reason our store does it this way in returning all 3, is to mainly, prevent a shrink situation within the store. We do not want missing product, and accidental goof ups or mistake and all.

Well technically it won't create shrink, since the games are not in the system as being in your inventory. Your physical inventory will be the same as the system's inventory.
lol, that is very true, when someone does it the right way.
But as we all know, someone is bound to do a full return, instead of doing it the right way, not reringing the free game and bam, there is your shrink.
EDIT: I need to actually start proof reading what I post...so many little words missing, and it makes me sound like the true asshat, that I really am
