It's like this
Dragonball Z fans buy Dragonball Z games.
Football fans buy Madden games
End of arguement
very true statement there.
to the developers, if the game sells, they'll keep making it. why? because of the profit motive. whenever they make a new game every year, they know there are the fans who are dying to get their hands on the latest installment and will gladly pay the full retail price for it, so they do, and the developers profit from it. they (generally) don't care about the few people who complain how the game is the same with each new release. why? because for every single person who complains, there will be at least 25 who will buy the game just to have the latest version, and that cycle will continue with each new release.
also, in case anyone hadn't noticed, every new Madden game that is released every year, i noticed that they always get a great review. to the developers, when they see these reviews, they think "oh, the people love it! let's make another one and continue on the success!". it's the principle of "if it ain't broken, why fix it?" developers won't do any drastic changes to franchises if the formula works and still sells.
bottom line: don't complain to the developers, they're only listening to the fans, who say they want more, and the developers deliver more to the masses. listening to what fans desire is a good move IMO, and that is part of being successful in the business. you're better off complaining to the fans who buy each new game every year, but of course, that would be impossible since the fanbase for these games are so large that it won't matter. in the end, there's no way you can change this cycle that gets repeated with these games.
