computer gamering help?

ok my grandma is getting me a laptop in about a month and I know which one she is geting me, I was wondering if any of you knew stuff about computers and could tell me if it would be good for gaming?

Note: I know its a mac but there is a thig out now called boot camp that will let me run windows on my mac.

she is geting me one of these but I dont know which one yet #1 #2

EDIT: I want to know because my dad wont let me use this computer I am typing on for a gaming computer :D

I have a mac and I love it. I'm more of a console gamer rather than computer though.

well depends, i trust gaming left to gaming style computers, where as nowadays games are starting to be able to run on macs, i would trust it left to Alienware, Falcon, Vodoo, Dell XPS, something that is designed for games. And in this day and age, these gaming rigs are becoming cheaper and cheaper. While macs are cool, id suggest you check out www.alienware.com, with their freeshipping on most every item, and indepth customization for them, i would suggest them. Im getting a loptop computer myself, but keep one thing in mind, with Windows Vista coming out, i would wait until then to get a Windows gaming rig, but dont get me wrong, macs are still tight.

alienware is sweet but dont underestimate the dell xps or any of the dell systems that are easily custimizable and affordable as for mac's never really been a huge fan but hey, they dont get virus's

the 2nd link is the one that works, its just the website, not any laptop in particular. Yea, dells aright, you just get transferred to India with a person with the worst accent in the world to help you deal with your comp. I dont really trust dell, the XPS is sweet, but i think its downgraded by the 4 letter word in front of it....DELL. Did you get your laptop by the way?

yes I know its a mac, but I will have Windows Vista running on it mac boot camp so I was wondering if this things gots all the stuff a Alienware has?

Any particular reason you are getting a MAC? Unless you are into graphic design and/or publishing, a PC is defintely a better machine for gaming.

Also, while you can run the boot camp hardware to get Windows, how efficient do you really think this will be?

If you are looking primarily for gaming, internet use (chatting and surfing) and the occasional schoolwork.....I would get an Athlon powered PC notebook (just my opinion).

well I use to be a PC user, but It seemed like I had to spend more money on my computer each year to keep it working and to keep geting the new cards that came out.

but then when my dad got his G4 I became a mac only persion, I have had this G4 for about 5 years and have not had to fix it or upgrade it, macs seem to be all around nicer computers.

and another reason I am geting a mac laptop is my dad has alot of stuff like photoshop/Microsoft word for mac, so I dont have to spend money to get all that stuff.

Edit: and I think boot camp will work good because its maid by apple.

That is EXACYLY why I would be worried. Unless Steve Jobs suddenly gained acces to MS Source code......A nifty little device, but all you are doing is running the S Ole S in a fancier looking case.

dan- still no laptop, i will make a long and outrageous post when it comes though, and seriously u can get a nice dell for $600-700 and then buy a sweet video card and your set

I wont spend much time on the windows side, I dont think I will even get into computer gaming, I was just checking because I mite start computer gaming a little.

I will mostly use the laptop for school and photoshop and email.

well if your going to use it for just school and photoshop, i have no problems with macs there. The only reason your spending all the money on PC's is that games are becoming more sophisticated, and they get higher and steeper system requirements. Which usually means if you can run it smoothly, you have a NICE gaming rig. I means its almost impossible to have a pc be still awesome 3-4 years down the road from when you bought it and didnt do anything to the guts. Besides, if your content with that stuff stay with the 360, i love how console games you dont have to mess with the graphics and such, and they run smoothly on them everytime you play them, or are suppose to anyways. If you want gaming go INTEL if you want school/actual work related programs go mac

well intel celerdon d is the worst thing you could do to yourself... dual core or hyper threading is what you need
