It is basically a side-scrolling beat 'em up, but your characters also gain XP which you can use to upgrade your attack, magic, or health.
There are also different weapons you can find and equip, and pet animals that add different benefits.
It is playable by up to 4 people at once, and besides the Story Mode there are also 2 bonus modes you can do, Arena fighting and "All You Can Quaff" which is a button-mashing competition.
Personally, I really liked it at first and played all the way through it with friends. However, once I had finished it, I had no urge to play again on the harder mode to level up characters further. I would say just try it and see what you think.

its great for playing with friends so if you have friends who come over and play all the time or friends on XBL who play it then it could be real fun

It's a total button masher, but it's also fun. No split screen required, everyone plays on the same screen at the same time. I have 3 boys and we occasionally play a 4way adventure. We can do the same thing with Halo 3, but then it's split screen.

it gets a 1/10. i hated it with a major passion. i do not see why everyone likes the retarded storyline, gay side quests, etc. it was the worst game i ever bought next to Ultimate MK 3.

it's not much fun alone, i'll tell you that -___-
great co-op game though lol. LOTS of characters to choose from (although many are just clones of eachother). it has a lot of replay value also.

Crap! I hate this game.
3/10 It cost too much and by the time they patched this piece of shit, I was completely over the gimmick. All you can quaff is fucking lame and the arena is a joke. It's not worth the price. Don't waste your money.

It's a great game!
The length of story mode is just about right for the price. But the game really rocks in the multiplayer, which is still easy to come across as people still play this game.
The game is also funny! There is some great subtle (and not so subtle) humor involved in the game. The game is unique and the art style is very appealing; especially in HD.
Re-playability, as M3TA said, is a bit hard to get into once you have completed the game through the first run-through, but with lots of different characters to use and hidden areas to find, it does warrant an extra play through or two on a harder difficulty.
Achievements are pretty straight forward and there are always people here on XboxAmerica.com that are willing to help boost some of the multiplayer ones.
The DLC packs for the game only add new characters, weapons and orbs (pets/familiars). Which isn't much, but the Behemoth has given lots of them away for free on Twitter.
All in all, I'd give this game an 8/10.
