Despite how I hated the ending of the first one and how it made you go thru all the same shitty "quests" all over again to level up, I'm thinking about getting this one simply because I've grown so board with gaming lately. I need something new and exciting to get me going again. Despite my gripes with the first game, I did enjoy the co-op.

I'm not quite at the point of being board, I'm more in a plank kind of mindset.

Not really. If you have ever played a FPS before then you should be fine. Its just that they throw in a bunch of twists like the skill trees and what not for each character. It's all about picking a character that is geared towards your play style. It will make it even easier if you play with other people and not just by yourself.
Just make sure that if you decide to join someone else's game, they aren't multiple levels ahead of you. Because the enemies level with the person who is hosting the game. So you could be a level 1 character joining the game of someone who is level 20 and all of the enemies would be 19 levels stronger than you. Though that is also an easy way to level up since you get xp from the other players kills as well. So you could sit back and not do anything and level up your character at the same time.
