Battlefield 3 Tournament

I'm thinking about hosting a battlefield 3 tournament on my server. I would also create a leaderboard here on xbox america for this tournament. I would like to get some suggestions and also see how many people would be interested in competing in such a tournament. We could do free for all with 4 at a time, squad deathmatch with 4 player teams. Also suggestions on prizes/awards. Let me know what you all think.

I'm down, I think 2 different brackets for team and free for all would be cool, obviously everyone could compete in both and teams of four would be cool, I have a 3 man team right now so I'd just need a dedicated fourth.

The captain for each team needs to be a member of the site obviously. So your saying one setup for team play of 4 players each and the other free for all? Sounds good to me, should be interesting to see how many people are interested.

Yeah I think that'd be cool since the team play would be more focused around playing to a combined strength and the free for all would be all out lone wolf, however I think we should exclude vehicles from both tournaments or have a SEPARATE conquest playlist if people WANT vehicles included, which I personally don't.

This is how I see the team bracket working, assign each team a number, use a random generator to pick those numbers and give each team a seed like an NCAA bracket, 1v8 2v7 etc...go best of 3, low seed gets to pick the first gametype (TDM or Conquest Assault from CQ DLC) and map, 2nd round would be the opposite gametype on a random map, if it ties 1-1 then the high seed would pick the final gametype and map since low seed picked the first. Then play through the bracket until there's an overall winner.

Free for all bracket could work like a qualifying style, if it's an 8 person FFA then the top 4 people would advance to the next round and play the winner of the other FFA (judging that we get enough people we could make another giant bracket that works like that). All first round would be on one map, all 2nd round would be on a different map, etc, that way no one's at a disadvantage with the maps.

Naturally I think everyone should at least have the CQ DLC for those maps since they'd work the best in a 8 person setting for both brackets, but we could use normal maps on TDM and FFA if needed and just exclude Conquest Assault.

If we wanted to get crazy and include a 3rd bracket we could do 12v12 regular rules conquest on all standard maps with vehicles and everything which would be pretty nuts.

Depends on how many people we get. I'd like to focus on team deathmatch, squad rush, squad deathmatch to start this, if we have more people we could make another tourney for conquest 12 vs 12. I also don't want vehicles until we do regular conquest. I would like to make a bracket in free for all where its lose and your out, for 4 player squads we should do best of 3 all on random maps. I would like to focus on small maps for this including CQ. Like I said you can make your team from people not on this site but there will be some rules involved and you should share them with whomever you include to not be disqualified. Any rules you all want in place. I will think of some and we will have an agreement on the rules for free for all and 4 player squads.

Squad deathmatch and free for all 4 at a time on squad deathmatch maps is my main idea. Depending on how many people want in that should be plenty for a tournament. Depending on how this goes maybe we can have another one. When we get at least 20 people from the site involved I will schedule the event on whatever day and time works for everyone. We should make up the rules for each event first and if theres going to be prizes or awards also think of those.

I'm in. I have a squad but we mostly play conquest. If your gonna do different game styles this would be the category we would win. We are open to other game types though.

Prizes should be like 1600 Microsoft points or like 3 months of live. Stuff like that

Thats what I was thinking as well, microsoft points since most people have live.

Edit: When we get a few more people I will put everyones name on the list as well as their team mates so make sure you know who will be on your team, if you don't have a squad we will pair you up with others also not in a squad. If you don't want to be in the squad matches just free for all please make me aware of that.

What rules would you all like to set in place? 3 game format for winning or just 1 game?
