Rank the franchise from best to worst.

1. Assassins Creed II - In my opinion this is still the best AC has to offer. Apart from introducing one of the better protagonists (Not Desmond) in gaming it's tale of revenge and intrigue is easily the most powerful of the series.

2. Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag - I'm not that far into it but I can already tell this is a return to what I liked about the series initially. Much like Enzio, Edward is his own breed of Assassin and manages to be memorable even with a more action based premise. The story has become so convoluted over the years it's overshadowed the unique world and intricate detail that goes into each title. Black Flag is a return to form.

3. Assassins Creed: Brotherhood - While it has a expansion feel, it improves on 2 in several ways. Most notably the introduction of recruiting and utilization of your own squad of assassins.

4. Assassins Creed III - This game is a mixed bowl to say the least. The world it presents is perhaps the most interesting in the series. American Revolution experienced through the eyes of a native American badass? This should be a home run of epic proportions. Unfortunately the story, protagonist (Seriously Connor and his Dad are bland as ****) and overall pacing are by far the weakest AC has to offer.

5. Assassins Creed Revelations - I felt this game offered nothing new to the Enzio trilogy and thusly deserves to be the bottom of the barrel.

Edit: I have only played the first Assassins Creed for 20 minutes so to be fair I have not included it in this list.

Going in order of my favourite gameplay experience:

AssCreed 2 - Improved upon the original in almost every way. Ezio was an interesting new character, more personable than Altair even if his overall story wasn't as mysterious or cool. Combat felt better and the amount of side stuff to do felt right.

AssCreed Brotherhood - Added some interesting new things to use and do, and I loved being able to recruit and task assassins, but overall I felt the story was weaker here and there were too many generic-feeling quests and side jobs.

AssCreed 1 - Felt very fresh when it first came out, taking good ideas from Prince of Persia but weaving a complex and intriguing story. The stealth mechanics didn't quite cooperate how you were told they would in tutorials, but the freerunning felt good. This one had the best story and atmosphere to me but the overall flow and combat didn't age as gracefully.

AssCreed 3 - I have only played 5 or 6 hours of this and I do want to go back and play more, but what I experienced was not as fun or fresh feeling as 1 and 2. I don't remember having a lot of technical issues that others have mentioned.

I have not yet played Revelations, Black Flag or Liberation but I would like to. I am definitely going to get 4 at some point, at least.

1. Assassin's Creed 2 - By far the best AC in the series, improved on everything from the first one and had probably one of the greatest Protagonists ever.

2. Brotherhood - Even though it was mainly a lot of rehashing, I still thoroughly enjoyed this game. The Squad mechanics were awesome! Easily the best feature added in AC. This AC Probably had the greatest multiplayer of the series. 1 thing of note I did not like was that they took away the Stronghold, the City you build from 2.

3. Assassin's Creed 1 - The game that started it all, while repetitive, it brought a fresh, new, and unique idea to the table and as a whole was a beautiful game.

4. Assassin's Creed: Revelations - Older Ezio, nothing new, story is forgetable.

Last and Least of all - Assassin's Creed 3 - While you could have called me an Assassin's Creed Fanboy up til now, I found 3 was the weakest of the series, The story was paced awfully, I hated when I had to switch back to Desmond, Connor is easily the worst protagonist right down there with Desmond as they're both bland and boring.

But it's not all hate for me, the Naval Battles were my favorite part of the game taking up hours of my time and I applaud them for taking a chance and doing something new for once as nothing was really added since Brotherhood. Overall this game felt like a grind when I played it.

I haven't played Assassin's Creed 4 yet but if it has Naval Battles, a decent story and a protagonist without a monotone voice this game is already better than 3 and Revelations.

1. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
It was a complete toss up between brotherhood and revelations for #1 but I chose this game cause of the amazing multiplayer (the achievements sucked balls to get though), the recruits were one of the best if not the best of the series, the storyline and gameplay was awesome to boot. What's better than killing templars and learning some Italian in the process? :p
2. Assassin's Creed Revelations
Pretty much the same reasons as brotherhood, had a good storyline and gameplay, great recruits.
3. Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag
I'm only on sequence 3 or 4 right now so not very far, but so far it's been an amazing game with the naval battles, the whaling portion, pretty good storyline so far, great main character. Although I do miss that they seem to have replaced the recruits with the kenway fleet minigame which HAS to be connected to the Ubisoft server to work -.-. This ranking is subject to change as I havent yet beaten it.
3. Assassin's Creed 2
Improved upon the original in every aspect and had a great storyline and gameplay
4. Assassin's Creed 1
Was a great way to open the series, only reason it's 4th is because the other 3 above it were considerably better.
5. Assassin's Creed 3
The character of Connor is forgettable, the storyline was iffy...the recruits sucked, worst game of the franchise as far as I'm concerned

AC2 - totally revolutionized the series, amazing game and bonus it's devoid of multiplayer.
AC3 - I don't really care what anyone else thinks of it, I think as far as controls, combat, movement, and overall feel, this game improved on so so much.
AC: Brotherhood - played this non-stop for something like a month, continued the awesomeness that was 2. Didn't care for the multi though.
AC1 - clunky movements, hard to keep the flow going in combat something like 600 some-odd collectibles, but still an amazing story.
AC: Revelations - this is the low point in the series for me, they tried to cram way too much crap in that they didn't need to. I couldn't focus on the story between trying to disperse my assassin's, trying to figure out making bombs, and the terrible den defense mini-game it just wasn't for me.

haven't picked up 4 yet, but my friend who hasn't bought one or played one since Brotherhood (which he never finished) he said he loves it, and it has the feeling of 2.

Edit: I finally got 4, new revised ranking

AC2 - totally revolutionized the series, amazing game and bonus it's devoid of multiplayer.
AC4 - Really surprised by how much improvement has happened. Love all the side stuff that really allows you to experience a lot in your time with the game. Naval combat is definitely improved, and even though there are no achievements tied to upgrading your character or finding all the animus fragments ect. I still find myself veering off course to find them.
AC3 - I don't really care what anyone else thinks of it, I think as far as controls, combat, movement, and overall feel, this game improved on so so much.
AC: Brotherhood - played this non-stop for something like a month, continued the awesomeness that was 2. Didn't care for the multi though.

I'd just like to point out Revelations has it's moments but wtf is up with the Desmond missions...did they go over budget and decide making me build their levels for them would be fun?

Yeah I really don't know what they were thinking with the Desmond missions, they do feel weird and pretty lazy, The Lost Archive DLC was also really kind of stupid.

Personally I would not mind a Templar protagonist in the next game. Black Flag gives you a glimpse of how cool it could be. If anything the previous games taught us is there is bad and good on both sides.
