Oblivion
Lost Odyssey
Two Worlds
Too Human
Eternal Sonata
Fable II
Sacred II : Fallen Angel
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1&2
Dragon Age Origins
Divinity II
Risen
Fallout 3
Metro 2033
Mass Effect 1&2
Borderlands
Final Fantasy 13
Alpha Protocol
I would definitely recommend Mass Effect 1 and 2, Fallout 3, Borderlands (if you have friends to play with), and Dragon Age Origins.
The rest are pretty good, I enjoyed them, but the ones I recommended are the ones I bought. The rest I got on GameFly and my experience with them justified that decision.

In all honesty, all of the games mentioned above are great RPGs. This was supposed to be a post stating what we thought about the RPGs 'WE' have played and less so what we thought of what others have played. It would be nice if those that are down (or talking up) about these games would at least give some supportive evidence as to why they possibly feel this way instead of "I just don't like it."
I would have to say that anything with Final Fantasy or Square Enix would be some of the more obvious choices. Especially if you are an RPG fanatic, then unlike some of the posters above, you can probably overlook a few graphic, gameplay, storyline, etc. flaws. As long as they are not all in the same game. As I stated above, essentially all of the RPGs above would appeal to a hardcore RPGer.
As to the original post. Prototype is the only one that is not correctly classified as an RPG and is instead in the 'Action' genre.
To the person who hates all '13' Final Fantasy games. There is actually around 30 FF games (Though you are probably speaking of the main series). Guess that is great for you though right? More stuff to hate, right?
I hope some of the games above pique your interest as they are all pretty good. Also, in the name of a last ditch effort, you could always just Google it. ^_^

What ever you decide, stay away from Too Human. That game is NOT an RPG, it's a third person view, action based button masher.

Really? I liked Too Human, and I'm proud of my 1k in it.
Although I do understand it is not for everyone. Oh and there was no button mashing it was joystick mashing

I didnt want to make a new thread so Ill just post this here. I just started playing Eternal Sonata and I must say it seems like a great game. I hope I can stay into it before I finish it. I really like the combat system and the whole light/dark aspect.

True but any RPG should take a long time and if it is good I dont mind putting in the time. I spent about 150+ hours on Fallout and never really got tired of it. I just hope it keeps my intrest.

My wife said the same thing. Then, she figured out how long it will take to actually finish the whole game and I think she found the task to be too daunting to finish.
