Achievement mode off

So recently I came to the realization that I don't really have a game that makes me happy when I'm not in achievement mode. Lately I've been wondering if I should try to pick up a game that has made me happy in the past and see if that works or if I should just do something different while waiting for my gamefly games.

The only fault with the game I was gonna pick up (Phantasy Star Universe) is the $10 monthly fee, but then again its only gonna cost me around $30 to repurchase and resubscribe. I'm not really losing much besides some money but on the other hand I could open one of my craziest video game addictions in the process which wouldn't be bad in my opinion.

So I'm wondering, have you guys experienced something similar to my current predicament?

i've considered paying the $$$ to complete PSU.
never got around to it though, and at this point i don't really care. lulz.

Achievement mode off kinda triggered something in me. You should be able to go into a games setting and make it to where u rented the game or something similiar to that and not to get achievements accounted for that game. that way u can have more 100% games and less 50% on ur profile. and sorry to turn this all around

to me, achievements are just a side thing, which is why my gamerscore isn't as high as most others on this site. i don't care for my score or completion percentage. all that matters to me is that i enjoy my games and have fun with them, i mean, that's what games are meant for, no?

when i play games on 360, i just go for the achievements that i can get without much hassle and the ones that are on the way to the end of the game. but i'll admit, there are exceptions though. if a game really catches my interest or if an achievement sounds really fun, then i will go for other achievements. generally though, getting as many achievements as possible isn't a neccesity for me

i get games i like, not games for achievements

LMFAO, yea i was havin a hard time tryin to read his post too i was like um wtf? but i agree with melissa, RPGs are like the exception with achieves, u play for hours and hours before u actually get some momentum goin on the achieve train, like magnacarta 2 for instance, i played for like 6 hours before i hit over 100 points on it but then at the end of the game i racked them up. if u wanna play some games n have fun n not worry about achieves try some of them out.

Anyway, I got the online achieves in PSU (except the last) when they were first released, but when I rebought the game and finished the story achieves they were gone off my profile. Apparently that happened to almost everyone who got them right away. It's killed my enjoyment of the online mode to know I'd have to suffer through finding a party to get them again...

For me, RPGs are what I play when I'm not after achievements (which is pretty much always). I mean, they pop, but it's few and far between so that's the only time I can stand to play them.

I usually play RPGs for fun too but once I complete a game even if its RPG it kinda gets boring to me, I put over 1,000 hours into PSU back in the day but that could also be because there weren't that many solid games out.

Yeah I was looking forward to AoC also, Huxley was another MMO I was waiting for but I haven't heard about that in a couple of years now. I don't know why I can't get attached to games these day but it sucks!

no you really didn't want age of conan on 360. I played it for PC and it was god awful

Noah you have to get too Level 100 for the last achievement, it's not worth it, unless you enjoy the game and have friends who play it.

is that really what you have to do? -__-

well, i'll give them one thing: they made a surefire way to keep completionists playing and paying the monthly fee as they spend the long haul to get to level 100 lol.

i'm satisfied with my 1000 from the single player storyline

Yea my achievement mode is off also but i still go for them but i dont crave them maybe next console?
