Xbox 360 network Adapter Issue
07/13/08 11:14 pm | #1
Is there some special trick to making the Xbox 360 Network Adapter be recognized by the console? I unplugged the wired Ethernet connection, plugged in the Network Adapter in the back USB and nada, the light just stays constant red and it says Not connected.

I remember when I first got mine that I had some problems getting it connected but that was like a year ago. I think Captain might have the right answer...but who knows. There were some certain setting I had to change to get it to work

did you enter the correct WEP key?
I'm not even getting that far. In order to enter the WEP key, the 60 has to realize this thing is connected to it and then find wireless networks....righ now, the 360 doesn't recognize the device and the adapter never changes color from red to green to signify it is "connected" to the 360...

If it's plugged in properly that sounds like a hardware problem with either the adapter or the 360. If you can, I'd try using an Ethernet cable just to see if the 360 can recognize it. You probably don't have to bridge the connection or anything because it should tell you if it see's the wired connection or not. If it does, it's probably the adapter.

The 360 works fine with wired and the Linksys gaming adapter. Its just this particular piece that isn't working, probably have to send it back...

Forgive me if this insults you but, have the console off then make sure you have the usb plugged into the usb port (not the ethernet, which i did once lol), turn her on and see if it works then

I forgot that the wirless adapter uses the USB port in the back. Before you send it in, I'd try to use something like a play & charge kit in that USB port to make sure that's not the problem.

I dont think that matters if its on or off when you plug it in. I unplug mine before my 360 is turned on so that I can put my status as "offline", plug my wireless adapter back in (while I'm actually playing a game) and it works properly.
Sounds like you have a bad wireless adapter man.
