My first post got cut off because of the proxy I used...
I think I have well rounded musical taste. I'm a sucker for R&B like The Temptations, the O'Jays, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, The Commodores, Kool & the Gang, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, James Brown, Barry White, John Legend and Stevie Wonder. I also am into some hip-hop/rap like Kanye West and Lil Wayne. I like some rock/alternative too. The Flaming Lips, Eric Clapton, the Magnetic Fields, James Taylor, the Velvet Underground, and the Go! Team are pretty good. Every once in a while I like to listen to Jazz too. There isn't much I don't like with the exception of country.

Yeah, I have them added to myspace already lol I try to keep up with them as much as I can. They're a great band and hopefully one day they'll get the recognition they deserve.
I also, like many of you, can't stand rap, pop, or country.

I'd have to say I am limitted to the rock genre. My favorite bands include Godsmack, Disturbed, Seether, 3 Doors Down, Korn, and Weezer.

So everybody's just gonna let me get away with that Barry Manillow post, huh?
But seriously, I love Led Zeppelin! they are my all time favorite and will never be replaced even though I don't listen to them all that much anymore.
I love serious metal, Lamb of God, As blood runs black, Nile, Through the eyes of the dead, Slayer, etc.
My ipod is a jumbled mess from busta rhymes and ludacris, to Elvis, Tim McGraw, and the Buddy Rich Big band orchestra!
I have game music from Gears of war and still alive from portal.
I'm a student musician of 19 years and I draw inspiration from so many different sources that it is impossible to narrow my musical preference down at all! If somebody put time, effort, and their own soul into their music, I will listen to it without prejudice!
And no I don't have any Barry Mannillo on my ipod! lol

All of you that like metal need to listen to Meshuggah.
You may have heard them before and not been impressed or wondered why they get hyped sometimes, but they really are good.
There's just no easy jumping-in point to what they do.
Grab like 2-3 songs from each of their albums so you can get a diverse sushi plate going.
If you like older/classic metal like bay area thrash stuff (Metallica etc) then check their older material.
If you like the modern, heavily down-tuned type, check their newer stuff.
It's not death metal like ignorant people say, but it's also not really prog metal or industrial, it's just very well-done metal that utilizes some obscure musical elements like syncopation, hemiolas, etc. It's heavy on the groove-factor but also has some shredding.
I agree with you BigZu, Trivium's music was better on Ascendancy. The vocals were horrific though, and that's coming from someone that regularly listens to black metal.

I love messugah! You don't get a lot of "metal" that is as diverse as their sound! Canderia and ackercocke are two other bands that I like that come to mind in the same light, though not the same sound. I think you might enjoy these as well if you have not heard of them!
