I didn't actually create the source images, but I did a whole lot of small edits, including averaging, blurring, sharpening some areas, retouching some edges, altering color saturation & contrast, and a few other minor things to make a more dramatic, exciting image. Basically, I got sick of seeing the same crap images that are out there so far for Gears of War 2, so I decided I would make my own background for it.
The base image is just the standard one shown in magazine ads & such for the PC version of Gears of War, I did a bunch of the minor touches mentioned above and grabbed the Gears text and Crimson Omen from a seperate 'teaser' background for 2.
The original wallpaper jpeg was much crisper and 1680x1050 which is my monitor's native res, but Tinypic scaled it to 1600x1000 and it looks like they compressed it just a little which makes for some minor artifacts; overall, it's still decent. I like it was my background anyway! If you want the original or want me to size it & retouch it for YOUR desktop res, send me a message.
Boy I can't wait to get back to the Lancer'n!
