Alright, the moment is here. I have now played the game quite a bit and have unlocked every song, so it is time to review Rock Band 2.

Ahem, IT IS AWESOME.

I guess I should write more...

Well we all know that Rock Band was a fantastic game with a few minor flaws. Well let me tell you now, those flaws have been fixed. Rock Band 2 is one of the greatest games I have ever played, and by far the best music game.

First off, the setlist. I did not like Rock Band's setlist very much, until you got to challenging and blistering songs it really wasn't that interesting. But RB2 changed that. By adding an 26 songs to the amount of Rock Band songs, it really increased the variety and awesomeness of the setlist. Now the list is not perfect, but pretty much everything above moderate is great. I also liked how they changed it to 7 tiers, and added 12 songs in each one instead of 9 tiers and 5 in each.

The Drum Trainer is a really nice feature. Now I haven't been able to fully enjoy it, seeing as I still have a faulty Bass Pedal, but from what I have experienced it is a good feature.

The new "No-Career" mode may have angered some people, but I believe it was a good change. For those of you who do not know, the took out the simple Career Setlist mode, and made it just Band World Tour. But you can play BWT with one person. The way you get songs is also interesting. Like I said before, you don't go down a list of songs as before. You have to "find" and "unlock" songs. You actually have to find the song in a gig, and beat it. That then unlocks it for Quick Play and Online Play.

So that's pretty much it. It's a fantastic game, and completely destroyed the Guitar Hero franchise. Bye-bye, Neversoft.

Score: 10/10

And just for the fun of it, here are the best songs IMO:

Most Fun to Play (Guitar):
1. Master Exploder (Tenacious D)
2. Painkiller (Judas Priest)
3. Down With The Sickness (Disturbed)
4. Peace Sells (Megadeth)
5. Colony of Birchmen (Mastodon)

Best Songs:
1. Master Exploder (Tenacious D)
2. Spoonman (Soundgarden)
3. Let There Be Rock (AC/DC)
4. Shackler's Revenge (Guns N Roses)
5. Chop Suey (System of A Down)

I picked this baby up on Sunday, but I have unfortunately been sick ever since :growl: so I have yet to play it. My girlfriend is really excited about it, and we hope to put a dent in the BWT Friday night. Thanks for reaffirming what I figured; I have something awesome on my shelf, still in the wrapper :p

Zomg you unearthed a guitar hero fanboy. Umm yeah, this game is pure win. Picked it up yesterday and am thoroughly enjoying it. So many things about the game have been improved. It's definitely not "filler".

Bye Bye Neversoft? Apparently you haven't read too much about Guitar Hero World Tour... RB2 is just an expansion pack, and a few bug fixes mostly. Not a bad game, but not the best game ever by far.

You don't have to "look for" songs to play and unlock. Just do the challenges. Each marathon challenge is 6 songs. Once played those 6 songs are unlocked. Pretty simple, and a LOT faster than playing songs over and over to unlock new venues so you can "look for" and find songs to unlock for the other menus...

I love Rock Band and I love Guitar Hero. Personally Rock Band 2 is a gap filler between GH: Aerosmith, and GH:WT - once World Tour comes out, Rock Band will once again be collecting dust.

Alright, let me explain my reasons.

1. GH3 was terrible. It had a half-decent setlist and the online had so many bugs in it it was un-playable. It had a very small amount of DLC, and when it did come out 80% of it sucked. Also the pricing was too high. You get a 3 song pack for 500 MSP, and you can't even buy just one of the songs. You have to spend it on the whole thing.

2. Rock Band 2 is not an expansion, do you know how many new features it has? An entirely new setlist consisting of 84 songs, improved graphics, online Band World Tour, Battle of the Bands, and challenges. It also has the Drum Trainer, Band World Tour, and DLC every week.

3. Neversoft is just bad at making GH. I really don't need to say more. The only up-sides they have in GH:WT over RB2 is the more realistic drum kit, and the song creator (which you can't even use MP3's for). Whoopdie Fucking Doo. And not to mention GH:WT stole like half of RB2's setlist. Oh and of course, THEY COPIED ROCK BAND. It is called GUITAR HERO, not Band Hero.

The only time RB2 will be collecting dust on MY shelf is when RB3 comes out.

So in my opinion, GH:WT will be a mediocre game that has hardly any unique features and is worthy of a Christmas Gift at most.

AND BTW: Shackler's Revenge does NOT suck. Just because it doesn't sound exactly like the old GNR, doesn't mean it's bad.
