This might by a bit late, but I just started to play this game tonight. In the past RE games the controls were a definite turn off. So with this being RE's big entry into next Gen. gaming, I didn't give a thought about the controls. I mean Capcom makes some pretty good shooters right. So tell me, WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO THEIR FUCKING BRAINS WHEN THEY MADE THIS GAME.

I mean WTF!!!

Did even one member of their team play any other shooter that came out in recent memory for that matter. There is just no excuse for this other than they are just doing it on purpose. Is this what RE is, Great graphic's, great story, great sound effects, and SHITTY CONTROLS.

I haven't seen one reason why you need to be pressing three different buttons just to fire a weapon. Or even worse use your knife. In fact there are buttons that aren't even being used at all.

20 minutes into this game and I already can't stand it. This from the people who brought us Lost Planet (witch I love) and Dead Rising to name just a few. I mean you only need one button to open the equipment menu so why not just use a standard button layout like most everyone else. OH, where Capcom, and are way is better.....NO it's not you stupid Fuck's.

Every one of their team should be forced to play L4D for a week strait before their ever allowed to write another line of game code.

If they screw up LP2 then I'm done with Capcom period!!!

I'm TK Chillin and this was my Rant.

really? i love the controls in theis game. i mean, sometimes they can get a little annoying, but for the most part their awesome. btw you dont use 3 buttons to shoot.hit LT, use RA to aim (not a button), and RT to shoot. the only time you would have any problems would be w/ reloading, but then again thats why they put the infinite ammo in there. you can shoot forever, no reloading or nothing. its pretty awesome :p

atleast you werent like this one forking idiot. he literally said "i dont wanna buy re5 because i cant run and shoot" umm......OMGNOWAIRUSRS!??!?! the whole stand-and-shoot makes the game better imo. because if you take to long to line up a shot or something you get hit, and it really makes you realize youve got to get fast and accurate at the game. this is especially true on professional, and if any of you've done that you know why when you get hit x_x that is hard right there (but ive only got 2 missions left to go ftw!! but they're both against wesker and hard as fork w/ a bot x_x)

I have to agree with Taco. I personally love the controls. Granted they did take a little getting use to.

Also, I think the infinite ammo is great. I am currently working through it on Veteran and the no-reload thing is very handy. I only use my Shotgun and Gatling Gun. Both of which are good for crowd control. While Sheva carries a fully upgraded pistol and a fully upgraded machine gun.

Nope, Sorry Taco. Have you ever played a shooter before. Because that would be the only reason to think these controls are good. There is just no excuse for why it was to be that involved to aim and use a weapon. All you need is for one stick to aim, the other to turn and a trigger button to fire. One button for melee. One to open the equipment menu. One button to run. Oh, but that would make it look to simple. Well hell that's all you get in this game. There is no roll, duck, switch weapon, or bullet time or chainsaw. I mean it's almost like they just want to cover up the lack of controls by making it difficult. Sorry Capcom, in today's game world you just = Fail. This game could of been awesome with a standard control layout. Again I say play L4D. Even the 50 cent game has it down right, and it has a equipment menu.

You shouldn't have to get used to the controls. That's the whole point. I not saying that is unplayable. Just that the way they did it was really stupid and unnecessary.

It wouldn't be a resident evil without having to stop and shoot, ever play an old resident evil game? It'd end up being just a Gears of war type game. It's honestly not hard at all and there is different control schemes to go with... There's a control type like Re4's if you've ever bothered to play the games.

i did in fact play through the first one.
got maybe 1/4 of the way through the second.

i really liked the first one. shooting while standing still worked in that game because you had a few zombies here and there stumbling toward you around tight corners, as opposed to waves of them running at you.

don't get me wrong, i had no problem with the demo. i just didn't enjoy it. i'd shoot some zombies, run past them, and then turn around and shoot some more until they were on top of me. rinse and repeat.

i also don't care for the fact that the zombies are now talking freaks with a virus. totally takes the scare factor out of the game. the first one was pretty creepy and i liked that.

just my opinion.

Alright, I'm a huge RE fan; I remember playing the original on the Playstation back when PSOne games came in those larger than DVD size cases. I've played every RE from 1 to 4, and almost every spin off in-between.

RE4 was the biggest change up, and I actually didn't care for it all that much at first. It grew on me, and ended up being a great game. So I knew what to expect with RE5; it didn't take me very long to learn the controls, because they are almost like all the others. While it doesn't bother me that much, I totally understand what all of you are saying:

Capcom totally over-hauled RE; its nothing like walking through the mansion stumbling on a zombie here and there, with RE4 and now RE5 the gameplay has completely changed; but while changing everything else, they have hung on to that old-school control theme. I know how it is, if a game's controls are jacked up to you, you're not going to have a good time, no matter how good the game may be.

To me, Capcom should pull a Rockstar; overhaul the controls to match the new facelift, and just give a quick option for veteran players to put it back to the old-style if they so desire. Just my 2 cents, anyway...

um, yes. of course ive played a shooter. ive played some shooters w/ you, and my recent games and other games in my library would prove ive played a shooter. so you have to get used to the controls, BIG DEAL! and ive played l4d, and love it. and currently im also loving re5. re5 has an equipment menu. its called the y button. and you can switch weapons. put them in the top row middle spot, middle row left/right spot, and the bottom row middle spot. then you can use the d-pad to switch between them. its not that hard. btw, the chainsaw was a pretty gay thing gears did. i mean sure its fun and stuff, but really. have you ever heard of anyone going into war w/ an assault rifle and a chainsaw mounted onto it? no, because that would be kinda lamesauce. thats why they made lots of close-range weapons...chainsaws arent needed. btw, what do you mean by bullet time? im not so sure what that means so im not sure if it would have that or not. plus, the whole fun of a new game is learning and getting used to the controls. i havent heard you complain about gears 2, is has a similar control layout. use A and the left analog to run. for the most part when your aiming your standing still (well you walk slowly, but you might as well be standing still) use the d-pad to change weapons. LT to aim, RT to shoot....i mean sure the knife is kind of gay, but then again, who uses the knife? except maybe for the achievement or to smash boxes w/o wasting ammo (unless your like me and you dont care about wasting ammo because every weapon you use is inf. ammo) you dont use the knife. and, it isnt that involved to shoot a weapon. as i said, its pretty much the same as gears 2, only you have a red laser sight instead of a reticle, but i havent heard you complain once about gow2's aiming system...also the stop-n-shoot makes the game more fun/intense, especially on veteran/professional (and even more so if you dont have alot of inf. ammo weapons yet) because it means you have to move and shoot fast/accurate to so you dont die. now ill admit, it isnt the scariest game, and ive heard the re series has has its horror/scary moments. but honestly i think alot of people would agree w/ its a good game. then again, i find the best way to like a game, is to read lots of reviews and figure out the "bad things" about the game. for example, i put re5 into my console w/ the thoughts of "ok, expect clunky body movement, bad aiming, (insert like 2 or 3 other things here peoploe have said was bad)" and honestly if you go into playing a game thinking stuff like that, it turns out ALOT better then you thought. thats how i ended up liking fracture. i just thought of all the "bad things" i was supposed to expect, instead of one of those "100% super-fly amazingly perfect" games, and they turn out to be good.
