Pre-holiday 2008 thoughts

Well, for the most part, the top contenders in this year's Game of the Year race have dropped. I have had the opportunity to play all of my top 3 games, (Fable 2, Gears 2, and Fallout 3) and I have to say that overall I am pleased with all three of them. I haven't been able to spend as much time with Fallout as I had wanted, but so far, so good!

I know that none of these games are perfect, but I have enjoyed every hour of play time that these titles have earned from me!

So...

I was wondering what all of you fine XBA members think of the lineup that we have all been waiting (not so) patiently for for most of the year.

What are your favorite parts, biggest disappointments, biggest surprises, and any other thoughts or comments you have on the recent releases!

Or you can tell everyone how you didn't play any of the new games, because you are saving up all of your money for the inevitable release of Yaris 2.

the only one i've played as of yet is gow2 and i'm likin' it more than i thought ( except for some of the annoying multiplayer issues). other than that my big game of the year was Too Human which i played the hell out of. i'd like to try fallout 3 and fable 2, just not sure.....

but, yaris 2 ftw!

my pre holiday thoughts are i need my repaired box to be here. this is torture...haven't played Fallout yet or GHWT or CODWAW or Left 4 Dead or Silent Hill!

L4D isnt even out yet lolol :]

Anyways, the biggest let down was probably either Fable or Gow2, Fable was wayyy to short and had little to no replay value and i completely hated the multiplayer, they really could have had something if they made it so both players characters were on SEPARATE screens and they actually had there characters. Gears had to many flaws and didn't really live up to the hype that it had set, the Campaign was boring, short, and ended terribly, the multiplayer is alright, its slowly getting better, horde is overall the best edition and the party system.

Game of the year for me is Fallout 3, hands down, and that means a lot, i HATE open area games but for some reason i had to play this game, and it tottaly was worth it, there is so much to do. There are so many quests that you can obtain and just the overall game was amazing, graphics, storyline, the karma system, the ability to chose what you say, oh and who can forget, the targeting system, its always fun to grab the plasma rifle to turn someone into goop or get the hunting rifle and pop there head off.

For the Music games, i haven't played GH:WT yet but i am sure it cant be better then RB2, i used to be a hardcore GH fan but i honestly wish they stuck to what they were good at, Guitar and left Drums and singing to Harmonix, they made enough money. RB2 was a 10/10 game for me, i love playing every instrument on there (Except singing, cause i suck) the online world tour really did it for me, everyone said they should have made the world tour over XBL too from RB1 launch, and Harmonix answered.

GOW2 and RB2 for me. I loved the campaign for Gears and Rock Band is always awesome.

I'm getting WAW for Christmas, so then I'll have that to judge too. Although, from the beta, it really just feels like COD4 with a Treyarch mask on. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but not much change from COD4.

If were just talking 360 games.

Likes:
(1) I've liked Fable 2 the most so far. What you can do in the game is crazy and the more I get into it the cooler it gets. It has issues with co-op ( lame ) But I'm just loving the game.
(2) Gears 2 is great. ( more of the same but better) I'd have to say Horde mode on-line with friends is my fav. hands down. Not into the rest of the matches (to may kids playing)
(3)I enjoyed Dead Space ( fell flat at the end but worth the play through )
(4) Ive yet to open Fallout or Farcry2 or pick up POP. all three are high on my play list.

Bummed about:
1: Star Wars unleashed. I love Star Wars but the game was too buggy and should have had more ( rpg add ons) Felt rushed. I did play through 3 times.
2: Too Human the only game I traded back. Finished the game but the controls, story , level ups all failed just sloppy game making. ( but a lot of people loved it) just not my cup of tea..

Great gaming year by the way.

Ahh Rev! you have some enjoyable gaming ahead of you once you get your mitts on these games!

BTW... Bananas and Apeshit were a redundancy! lol

I'm getting W@W for my b-day ( Dec. 10th ) That game looks pretty sweet. The beta was pretty fun
