At the end, Batman speeds off to stop Harvey Dent from robbing a bank. That could have been an awesome DLC

l4d2 has been way underrated imo. i know a buncha people who just hate it...i personally love it! besides the laggy-as-all-forkery online xD

mw2 i think is HIGHLY overrated imo. thats the reason i aint gotten it yet. i can wait till christmas and use l4d2/ac2 and some other games to keep me busy

ac is kinda in the middle i guess. i know some who say that they wont play it cause they think its like the first (when it DEFINATELY isnt lol) and some who almost overrate it...

theres some others but i cant think of em

Borderlands underrated?? The original post makes me laugh audibly! I haven't seen anything but glaring reviews and 25 threads polishing this game's satchel. It's fun, yes, but it's overrated WAY before it's underrated.

My opinion of the most overrated game has got to be Assassin's Creed. It's so mind numbingly repetitive and the "intuitive" controls are so unintuitive that instead of running from the guards, I'm running into the walls. Then when I decide that I must stop and fight, I'm fighting the camera as much as the guards. This game little more than a glorified version of Viking:Battle for Asgard. I liked that game, but it was certainly not Game of the Year material like the hype for AC claimed to be.

Honorable mention goes to Castle Crashers to be sure. Anyone who knows me, knows I hate this game, the people who made it, their families, and their family's pets.

Underrated would have to be a LOT of arcade games. Many people don't buy XBLA titles at all, and people that do are far more selective than they are with retail titles for whatever reason. I think Braid comes to mind as a fun game that a lot of people will never play. It just costs more than people are willing to pay.

This is an AWESOME topic. It's a good example for me, to see how the XBA forums conduct themselves (to see if this turns ugly, gamers and debates on overrated/underrated games seldom turns out well on most sites)

On topic...

Overrated
Dragon Age Origns - Critically speaking, this game should have been the second coming of christ's rpgdom. The gameplay was bland (combat wise) and half of the moves didnt truly variate in nature, vice appearance. It also ripped off the gambit system from FF12 greatly. Also, the graphics looked ps2-quality. The story was phenominal, so Ill make sure to pick up the books, but as a game, no way this was a 9+ as many sites gave it.

Underrated
Crackdown - This sold because of the halo 3 MP beta. This was one of the most refreshing titles to come out this generation, and easily one of the underappreaciated titles. Most of its praise/love from the population didnt come until looking back a few years later.

Perfectly Rated
Batman: Arkham Asylum - The story was solid, the voice acting was spot on, the combat was engaging and avoided being a spam fest, it gave the Batman property justice...all in all a potential GOTY

Castle Crashers - How can anyone not love this? lol. It was a perfect tribute to the hack n slash days of old. It had a charm to it (presentation is phenominal) and its a simple but fun hack n slashing adventure, enjoyable by players of all ages (me and my kid play it).

I can wholeheartedly agree with Crackdown! I LOVE that game. I didn't know (or care) about the Halo3 beta when I bought this game. This game is tough to beat as far as fun factor!

I have my own personal reasons for Castle Crashers. I have 185/200 on it! I don't deny that it's fun. It's just that the hasty release caused it to launch as what I consider a broken game. It was rife with glitches. The server was so laggy that online coop was all but unplayable. That combined with the fact that this game was a spearhead of the new 1200 Microsoft point "revolution" had me actually mad enough to make an account on the Behemoth home site simply to rip everyone who had anything to do with this game. lol

Oh yea, crackdown was a BEAST. 6 chievos left, the 500 orbs glitched on me, I have to do a new file and all 500 over ;( but fun nonetheless.

Crackdown 2 has 4 player co-op, now THATS gonna rock.

And yea, I can see that as a good argument. It was a PAIN to do co-op online for the first month or so, but it did get fixed in time. I cant tell you HOW MANY online matches got dropped when going for the 400 online wins (200/200, btw) But 1200 was little to play, as castle crashers came with SO much content. The problem was, other developers charged the same price thereafter, with nowhere near the same content.

I lost my nearly maxed out character to the Keys of the City DLC glitch. I had to start over and I'm almost back to full. I need the wheelman and full agent achievements and I think I'll have as many points as I will get! lol

I want those last 6 so bad. I suck at driving.....but im kinda close to that 150 pt chievo, thanks to the supercar exploit.

Id also say the first assassins creed was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overated. Too much of the same thing. I got bored early on and couldnt even make myself finish it. Heard the second is improved, I need to rent it.

Over Rated:

Drage Age: Origins - Being a huge BioWare fan and hearing other people, I regretfully say Dragon Age was overrated. The game I believe was set out to say we are still here and that they would like to fund ME 2 and Star Wars: The Old Republic (which will be AMAZING). Now this game isn't EXTREMELY over rated, but it wasn't as awesome as I had hoped and expected.

Fallout 3 - The game is just terrible. Graphic collision issues, several bugs, crappy story line, quests were boring, and the list goes on.

Halo 3 - Just a boring game since the last two are the same setup. Not seein' what's so great about it. I mean yes it's a nifty FPS, but it's not that great.

Under rated:

Splinter Cell: Double Agent - The game is a blast and multi-player is actually really fun. People under rate it because it isn't an FPS and that you can't just go sprayin' through a level. It's a game that requires you to review your options and act accordingly.

Yaris - For a free game, it's actually pretty fun and challenging.

Mass Effect - I say this because many people I know said that they didn't like it and that they quit playing after a couple of hours. I don't blame then because the game is boring for the first 6-10 hours (depending on how you play it), but once you start getting the hang of the concept and the story starts kickin' in, the game is amazing.

UR-
Kane and Lynch- That game was fun with good graphics. And had the different settings. Office, out in a war type place. Was great.

Rock Revolution- The game sucked, yes, but the drum is amazing and is pretty challenging. Not like the RB or GH drum. I liked the drum, but the game sucked. Lol.
