Well the race to the chase is over, and Dale Earnhardt Jr isnt in it, he was nowhere close to making it. But I will admit at one time, I thought he would make it. God damn those engines, 6 DNFs so far this year, 5 of those because of engine failures, I know that seems like a lot but listen. He missed the chase by 100 points. Now with 6 DNFs thats expected, but look. First place, Jimmie Johnson, 4 DNFs, yet first in points...Thats 2 more DNFs, however, Johnson won 6 races so far this year, Jr has one 0, that leaves Jr some 600 points back, the most you can gain or lose in one race is 156 so that accounts for 300 points. Whered the other points come from? Well 200 of those could be explained by the top 5 finishes, Johnson has 14, Jr has 6. Now about that other 100, a penalty for illegal adjustments to the rear spoiler. And in every single race Jr blew an engine, he was running in the top 10. So without all of that he would be in approximately, in 5th place, and in the race for the chase. However it wasnt meant to be, if it wasnt for these engines, hed have no problem contending for the championship. That cant happen now, so he has to go for the wins, its been 56 races since he last won, the longest drought of his career. But even if he had made the chase, he is leaving Dale Earnhardt Inc at the end of the year. What team is he going to? Hendrick Motorsports. Whose cars does he own? Jeff Gordon, 2nd in current points. Kyle Busch, 6th in current points, Casey Mears, 19th in current points, and Jimmie Johnson, 1st in current points. Jr will be replacing Kyle Busch...what will be his sponser? No other than Mountain Dew. I personally wish that wouldve happened last year. Why? There would have been a Halo 3 Mountain Dew Game Fuel car of course.
