On January 9th, Macworld San Francisco begins, and any new products will be revealed. Personally, I've been contemplating buying a MacBook Pro... I can't wait to hear Steve Jobs' keynote. Apple.com has also been updated with a teaser reading "The first 30 years were just the beginning. Welcome to 2007."

I'm pumped.

Wow. I must say that the iPhone is amazing. The only bad things I see is the huge price, and the small hard drive. I wonder how long it'll be before this type of interface is included into the next generation of iPods.

Personally, I don't see any reason why it would. It's more innovative and advanced than any other cell phone out there right now. The price tag is hefty, and it stinks it's for Cingular only, but it's an device.

thanks,

also I just watched the keynote speech, and watched all Steve Jobs had to say about the Iphone. And all I have to say is "WOW" that is one sweet phone and it can take place of my 1GB Ipod nano.

Well I guess I am going to go start saving my money.

There are too many I-lemmings in the world.

The real facts:

1. Jobs is a salesman, the phone has too many holes
2. Cingular service sucks. Worst coverage of the big boys. In addition, the Iphone runs Cingular's 100-Kbps EDGE network rather than the 3G network, which is 10 times faster
3. Mac OS is inflexible, with Apple limiting software to approved applications
4. Mac OS doesn't even run the majority of popular software on the market
5. Where is the data encryption, remote wiping, or enterprise policy enforcement?
6. Cost prohibitive to the casual user

In short, Jobs and Apple made a big splashy announcement of a product that is light years away from being a practical piece of equipment. It's too expensive for most kids and recreational use, and too light on functionality and flexibility that corporations and the business world demand.

I'm sorry to disagree with you but, I think these are the only things that matter that you mentioned. And I think this will be a awesome phone.

but on the down side, apple got sued today for using the name "Iphone" so I hope that does not turn out to bad for apple.

Actually, the single most important thing is that Apple signed an exclusive with Cingular. The majority of the corporate world are aligned with Verizon or Sprint/Nextel and their resellers.

The problem is, you can't have it both ways with the features they announced. Is is a youth oriented product, or it is a Business product? As it stands, Apple is discouraging the youth market with the price and ignoring the needs of the corporate world with the features and carrier. A pretty flawed business plan on their part. We have all witnessed the biggest Cluster F*ck of a console launch by Sony, and now we get to watch Jobs squirm for making a major FUBAR with his newest toy.

It was a big announcement, but at its current set up, stands to fall flat on its face after they burn through the I-Lemmings of the world.

1. From what I've heard from people hands on with the iPhone for the most part is an amazing device that blows away most of the current cell phones out there. I'm unsure on how long it takes to produce them, or when production will start, but I'm sure some things will be resolved by the time it ships in June.

2. I have to agree about Cingular, and I will not be buying an iPhone until it's available for more carriers. I have Cingular now, and my plan is just about up. I don't plan on ever returning to Cingular again. I believe it won't be very long before they realize they should open to more carriers. One possibility for the reasoning of releasing their first cell phone ever with just one service could be to work out any problems. I highly doubt that this iPhone, and future models will continue to by limited to Cingular.

3&4. I'm sorry but you sound extremely biased. I'm sure I have some bias as well, but Mac OS is an amazing operating system. This is also a portable device. How does the lack of software or applications you mentioned has anything to do with this? It's a cell phone and media device. It's part of the functionality of a pocket PC, but with the ease of use and excellent design of an iPod. I can't really think of any other software I would want for my iPhone.

5. I have to admit, I'm not knowledgeable in any of those subjects. However, they all sound to me something that wouldn't exactly be something that would be displayed in the keynote presentation. Apple's presentations are about functionality, design, and usability. Things like security, and such are assumed. They just announced this, and I'm sure we don't have all the details. Of course, sense I'm not exactly an expert... or anything near it on these topics, I can't be sure.

6. It is definitely an expensive device. I wouldn't say that the casual user can't purchase this though. The iPhone incorporates a cell phone, complete full screen video iPod, and camera with an absolutely astounding interface. For all that, I'd say it's well deserving of a higher price. I would consider myself a casual user, and part of the target audience. I'm a 15 year old teen, and as soon as they support other carriers I will most likely be buying an iPhone.

I'm sorry Z, but you sound like a snooty Bill Gates lap dog and Microsoft fanboy in these posts.

I agree with you about Cingular, but besides that...
