I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue with their mouse.

I am having an annoying problem with my Intellimouse 4.0 Explorer from Microsoft. It is a corded USB mouse.

For some reason, I have to RIGHT CLICK TWICE to bring up any menus, etc.

It doesn't happen every single time I try to right click something, but I would say 90% of the time.

I have indeed went to MS and downloaded the newest drivers and software and have went in and made sure the default settings are set up correctly for right clicking.

All of the other buttons function correctly. I can not find anything on the net about this problem and it is driving me crazy. I thought about trying to hook the mouse up via a USB to PS2 adaptor to see if that would help, but I can't imagine that was the problem as no other mouse has had this problem running via USB.

If anyone has heard of this or knows of a good MS support phone number to call about the problem, please let me know. I love this mouse because of the smooth feel and side forward and back buttons and I can't return it because I have had it sitting around since I originally got it.

Besides the things you already have done, went to MS and downloaded the latest software and rebooting. Do you have another USB port you could move the mouse to? Maybe the USB port is acting goofy...just a suggestion, weirder things have done the trick.

I am pretty sure I have tried the other USB port on the back, but I may try one of the front ones just to try it.

Do you know if it really makes any difference plugging in a mouse via the USB port versus the PS2 port? I thought I read online that it was actually better using the adaptor and plugging it into the PS2 port. But I don't understand why that would be better as I thought USB 2.0 transmitted faster than PS2?

It doesn't make any difference whether you use PS2 or USB. I thought the same for a little while, but no matter how fast USB2.0 is, it's only going to go as fast as the hardware (i.e. the mouse) allows. I prefer using the adapter since there is really nothing else you're going to use that PS2 port for, but plenty of things can go in USB.

Umm, have you ever considered that it may just be your mouse? Loose connection mb?

Wouldn't that be my luck. Got the mouse forever ago, and just decide to crack it open to try it out and it is broken right out of the box. I can't even remember how much I paid for it.
