So I know I\'m new around here, but everyone is going to get used to me sooner or later... I don\'t shut up. If I have an opinion I say it, even if it is off the wall. I have been reading a lot of posts here lately and understand this is not directed at anyone, I don\'t know anyone well enough to say anything to them about their personal life, but some various things that are said have just got me thinking about stuff IRL.
So my wonderful title is from an Aerosmith song, yeah I\'m sure you\'ve heard it. So anyhow I am just frustrated with the way things are going in general in our society. Something is wrong with the world today, but I do know what it is.
Responsibility...... We live in a world where people have taken their right to do things too far. I am not against banning free speech or life liberty and the pursuit of happiness or anything like that. However, we live in a world where everyone is told that they can do whatever they want as long as it doesn\'t hurt someone else (and half the time that\'s ok too).
Kids today are not brought up with responsibility. They are told if they have sex (even though they\'re not supposed to) you can just have an abortion and it won\'t ruin your life. Kids are told to respect their elders, and their parents don\'t treat anyone else with respect and wonder why their kids are monsters. People are told if they pick the wrong person \"til death do us part\" that they can just get rid of them because they don\'t like them anymore. People follow religions and pick and choose what they believe about them. (Note: I want to throw something in here...I can\'t remember who it was that threw it in a post before about not agreeing with any religion - I respect that even if I disagree- I am against those who \"follow\" and pick and choose what they want to believe/obey)
Understand I am not personally attacking anyone. If you are offended by this, just remember you are the one with the problem, not me. I don\'t expect many people to agree with me (this is why I feel old) - I am against abortion (with the exception of rape or possible death for mom) I am against divorce (yes I\'m divorced) my wife is a minister so you can guess a lot of other things I am against. But I don\'t think those cause the problems. I think our society has got to the point where we don\'t want to take responsibility for our problems.
Its always someone else\'s fault.
The housing market crisis is the governments fault......
Did anyone think about not buying a house they can\'t afford?
Did anyone think about not racking up credit card debt on things they dont really need?
Did anyone ever take any financial responsibility and save for the future?
I\'m not picking on those people who barely make enough to make ends meet, Im picking on those that made enough and PUT themselves in the position they are in. Not victims of some company scamming them into a loan they didn\'t fully understand or people who have always been in a poor situation and truly have no way of getting out of it (yes republicans there are really people like that, everyone is not lazy scum)
I\'m torn about this year\'s election. I am not a republican but I am very conservative. My general choosing of a president is based on morals. I don\'t care what you think about this, its my opinion. I voted for Bush twice. A couple people I know are voting for McCain because he is \"against abortion and would overturn Roe vs Wade\" ....thats fine if you want to vote for that reason, that is generally my reason for voting, BUT McCain was for abortion months ago...uhh anyone else not ok with that? We\'re uneducated about who we are voting for and then wonder why things are messed up. I truly want to vote for Obama because I believe he really wants to change Washington. Even if you take out my moral beliefs, I don\'t know if I would vote for him though - I don\'t think he can do it. He\'ll have congress in his way, whether democratic or republican, there are enough corrupt politicians to make things difficult.
I don\'t want to live in a society where women, or people who aren\'t white are oppressed or considered lesser, but I frequently wish many of the other aspects of 50 years ago were still around. I hope that if my son is ever acting up outside of my authority some responsible adult will discipline him. No I don\'t think they should spank, that should be a parent only thing, but why is it people are afraid to reprimand someone else\'s child for being a hellion? Because the parents will say something?
I read an article about a man dying from suffocation essentially because he locked himself out of his house and then tried to climb in through a window that he broke. Apparently he had been screaming for at least 5-10 minutes and many people admitted not helping him. What? Someone is screaming for help and no one helps? They said they thought he was a robber....call the police and then help him, geez. I understand not wanting to put one\'s self in danger, but i mean what was he going to do if you helped him, even if he was a thief? Steal from you in broad daylight with other people around? Take a chance...be the bigger person.
I truly believe that if everyone would take responsibility for their own actions and just try to help people out we would be so much better off than we are...
So that being said, please say what you will. If you feel the need to insult me or my opinion, I won\'t be mad. I won\'t call you stupid. I have been put in many situations where I have helped many people who have not been good to me (that is one of the beliefs that I hate following but still do). So the next time someone is crappy to you, it is your RIGHT to be crappy back, but what happens if you\'re not?
If I had that attitude years ago I might still be married to my first wife... (note: I think I am the lucky one because my current wife is the most wonderful person I have ever met...but still I can\'t blame my ex-wife for our marraige breaking up, I had plenty to do with it too)
If others had that attitude, there would be a lot fewer murders - a kid who went to my church was egging cars a few weeks ago (yeah shouldn\'t have been doing it) and someone came up and shot him in the face and killed him. I think the kid should have been taught a lesson for egging cars, but to take away his life? Again....What??
If every parent taught responsibility to their kids for all their actions, there would be a lot less problems for kids (there would still be problems because they are kids and parents can\'t MAKE their kids be well behaved) And if every parent practiced said responsibility then kids would be even less likely to act out (didn\'t every kid hate their parent saying one thing and doing another?)
Ok my rant is over. I hope everyone has an awesome day and make sure if you reply you throw at least one insult at me because I am cool with it and if you need to really insult someone I got broad shoulders
