Yeah and like you said, moms and dads should be hit over the head but than again, if a kid wants to do something.....he is going to do it one way or the other. So in a sense I do say it comes down to the mom and dad, but than again, there is only so much they can do you know?
All in all, I think what it boils down to is spending more time together as a family. When I was growing up and my little brother was younger, we lived in Arkansas and always sat down and had dinner together (my mom, and dad, my grandma, grandpa, aunt, and cousins)we had the family interaction DAILY like that. Now that we moved here, everyone is so busy that there really is no time for the family interaction as much as there once was.
I think people are losing sight of family values and it is beginning to show. I'm not saying everyone is, but I think that is a problem that is pulling our younger generation to lash out in the way that they are....They don't have anyone smacking the back of there heads in church like my dad did, LoL

It's hard for my family to sit down and eat dinner together as my dad works during the day and my mom at night....we've gotten nights where we've eaten together but it's harder and harder as you said.
now if the parents buy the games for them then yeah your right that is totally different.
It's harder and harder for my fam to do the same for the same reason you just mentioned. Only my mom doesn't work at night but sometimes she won't get off until after 7 or 8 at night and by that time we are already done eating.

yeah your right....and even not so basic needs that they sacrifice family time just for a bigger tv
I got my big TV before I had a family...unless it goes out, I dont see needing another one for a very long time
unless my kids baseball goes through the screen....LoL

See the thing is you have to start real young with kids. You have to crush your hopes of rebellion with pure un-adultery fear. See some kids get parents that want to be they're child's "friend" their "Pal" their "Home Boy".
There in lies the problem. As a parent your not their to be that child's friend. The child is born into your life expecting you as a parent to COMPLETELY take care of all its real life needs until the time comes the child is able to do so on its own as you teach the child to take care of themselves. I believe parenthood is like teach your child to take your place in the world and to become a more powerful, well-rounded, and independent person than you did
I never know any of my "friends" to have that much responsibility over my life yet I know my father everything in his power to make sure I understood right from wrong and i will do the same with my son as well

thats something else...haha...growing up my parents use to get on me sometimes for playing video games (not really get on me, but joke around with me playing them would be more accurate)
Everytime they did I would come back with "Well at least this all you would have to be remotely worried about, I could be out there doing drugs or robbing people, so in reality....I'm making your job easier"...LoL
Although I don't see video games and tv in terms of proper baby sitting....but I was 16 at the time and lived in the back home country roads of a place where we just moved to, so I didn't know anybody.

Parents need to keep one thing in mind - That which is given has no value.
If they didn't earn it, they sure as hell are not going to appreciate it.
