Either way, 5 or 10 or whatever, you can't protect them forever and you can't be sure they don't hear or see things they shouldn't. That's how my mom and grandparents tried to raise me. By not letting me know about anything. I could only watch movies if they watched them first, no music at all, and only could watch things like wrestling after I was told and lectured that it was fake and nothing that went on was real.

I'm not saying that he should be given a free leash to do whatever he wants but I mean ya gotta be real here, its impossible to hide all that from them. It'll happen in school, that's where I found out everything.

I fail to see how me saying that I dont want my son exposed to immature people who clutter their profiles with profanity and mindless garbage translates to me saying "I want my son to live in a bubble cut off from the world, keeping him away from everything" If I remember correctly It was Cpt 88 that was all "whats the point, its not like you can protect him from everything!!!" Its what I chose to do, and frankly I enjoy it almost as much as actually beating someone in a game. My parents were too busy working from 5am-7pm pretty much straight through my whole time while I was in school and even when I moved out at 16 they were still working the same hours. So supervision wasnt exactly their top priority from early one. I grew up spending alot of time on the internet alone and I speak from experience when I say that I dont want my son on there alone, and much less on Live alone. So I think reporting people for their offensive profiles is a way to make Live more family friendly.

Oh and I do get this sick pleasure from reporting people, I just cant stress that enough. I love it so much, I want to cheat on that feeling of "beating the crap out of people in a game" with the "reporting DBs obscene profiles", marry it, and have little smaller feelings with it. ~_^

okay honestly, is it really necessary to carry this argument on? Big freaking deal, if Laguna wants to watch out for his kid the best he can then so be it, it's a lot more effort he is putting towards his kid than a lot of parent do out there. I think it is stupid to keep this argument going just because you don't see any point in him doing what he feels is necessary to keep as much trash out of his sons ears and eyes as he can. No, no matter what he does it wont keep 100% of the stuff that is out there away from his son. There is nothing no one can do out there for there kid that will do that, and no before someone decides to get smart and ask if I have kids I do not, but I raise my 3 year old god son as he is my own and know what I would do from a god father's point of veiw in order to keep him safe and away from trash that is starting to pollute everything we encounter everyday.

It's his son...not yours...drop it, seriously....Can we talk about something else now? I'm not choosing sides on this argument, I just don't think it is smart to argue with someone about how they should raise there own kid.

i think its kind of funny how little kids ( i dont mean me little kids, like below 11 little kids) think theyre so cool cause they can cuss and their parents let them do whatever they want. i got this HILARIOUS message from this kid on xbl. i swear he wasnt older than 8. this was his message (his gamertag is mcluvin2009 i believe)

"you STUPID blakzombie taco! and what does blak mean anyways? and how FORKIN stupid can you get? and how can it be a zombie taco thats just retar--" and the voice got cut off. i censored his use of the f word, but if you could hear his voice i swear youd get a pretty good kick out of it lol

I was playing Rock Band online and some guy quit the song mid way so I sent him a message telling him to stay off of expert if he cant beat the song he picked out and its not good to quit early, lol He got all upset and challenged me to a game of Halo 3 (Its what he was playing at the time). Funny thing was that this guy was actually some foul mouthed little boy and he had his brother with him when I joined the game. Apparently he wanted a 2 on 1. The best part is that I use a female character on Rock Band so he thought I was a girl.I had Raine pretend to be me on the mic talking some rather harmless trash talk while I was cleaning house with the two of them, sadly I had been horribly out of practice and I had actually forgotten the controls (Yeah THAT long since I had last played) and they still sucked that bad. In the end I got like 20 friend requests from the kids slightly older brother because he thought I was Raine..lol

I love the little kids that talk shit! They crack me up and atleast give me a good laugh. How can you take anything personal from a kid cussing? If it makes them feel "cool" then I'm glad I could give them that.

On the flip side it's not right to make fun of the little guy's just because he or she opened their mouth and talked. I've had a players in a room for several rounds and be good players and me and others are talking to and telln' them plug in their mic. As soon as they say one word they get jumped on and teased by so called adults and older teens. I do not allow that crap in my rooms either. If the kids not being a problem and can hang with the group then he has earned his place and can speak freely. I had a really good friend on Live that used to jump any kid that opened their mouth. I had to tell him to knock it off or I was going to kick HIM out. That didn't go over so well and he didn't talk to me for a week. He still played, just didn't talk. The next week he was over it but his attitude had changed and he is a much better person to play online with than before.

The kids that you hear cuss and stuff dont learn that by chance, they experience it through watching others (parents more than likely) or just walking down the street. That is the world today, its not like it was 10-20 years ago.

I agree with you Captain, giving a kid a "sheltered" life for too long can cause life long damage. You end up with a teenager and later an adult who cannot be dependent and more than likely when they do experience the "cesspool" that is the real world thry will either conform, revolt, or become a recluse.

Kids have to experience life and make their own decisions, but like Raine said a 5 yr old is much different. There is a age when things will change (puberty) and kids have to have responsiblities.

Sorry raine but I gotta hit you on this.....but if you truly are going to keep him "out of the cesspool that is the real world." for as long as you can that won't do anything but hurt him in the longrun, as he won't take initiative to do things on his own he'll just rely on you.....I've seen people that have been treated like that, hell I even hang out with a few people like that who are out of High School but still need to call mommy and daddy every half-hour. I guess I'm just lucky enough that my parents trusted me enough when I was out with my friends that I wouldn't do anything illegal and to their credit I never did nor will I ever. As for how my kid will be when they're five I'm not having any, and I know people always say that you'll change your mind when you're older but my mind hasn't changed since I first said that when I was 10. This is my last statement on the subject as well as my last real post on this site as I'm tired of the constant bullshit that you get for voicing an opinion, just because I don't agree with the majority I must be wrong and be forced to either comply or be silenced so as I go I'll all ask everyone of you to fuck off.

That's how I was up til like.. 3 years ago because my mom did that same thing. But my dad talked some sense into me. Anyway, why the hell is your son on Live in the first place? If he's only 5 what games are there for him to even understand?
