How many of you had Original Xbox's AND...

...owned a Sega Dreamcast?

I owned a Sega Dreamcast (3 actually) and I also owned, and STILL own, my original Xbox. I feel as if a lot of Xbox owners migrated from the Dreamcast as obviously the Xbox 360 owners migrated from the original Xbox.

I guess my question to you all is do you believe that after the death of the Dreamcast, was there something about the Xbox that made you feel the Xbox was the next best thing instead of another console?

i had one of these when i was like 8-9 but only to play sonic and aladin lol!!!! i think that's all i played, that's all i remember

I think the similarity in the controllers might have had a little to do with it.

I never had a dreamcast. I had a PS1 and 2. I was a sony guy.

Then I had 3 brand new ps2s in a little over a month fail. I went to xbox and never looked back, thanks to Fable!

Man, you really missed out on some of the greatest gaming in history... (just my opinion)

I often feel that the Dreamcast pioneered a lot of things that make gaming what it is today.

I played it a few times. I remember when it first came out, I saw NFL2K, I belive it was, and the graphics were completely unbelievable! At the time I never had money to get one, so yes, I did miss out!

I still have my precious(Dreamcast), and over 100 games. It didn't happen like that for me. I was a sony fanboy for sure, even after Xbox was out. I still have all of my games and systems. I think what turned me off sony was how arrogant they were getting to be and the shitty games that they Hyped up.

I didn't buy a xbox untill I saw the green Halo edition and then fell in love. Didn't get Xbox live till 3 months after bying a 360. Man it seem like that was a really long time ago, but not really!

I did but then again I've had every system except the sega saturn and the wii (so far). Right now the only one that I regret ever owning is my PS3 not enough games to play on it that I dont already own for the 360

never owned a DC, but my dad did, and i loved PSO and shenmue.
my first was a sega genesis when i was 5 years old.
quickly got a SNES and stuck with it for years and years. (old squaresoft RPGs will never die) and got my first PS1 when i was 10ish.
FF7? FFT? hell... alundra! oh yes.

of course, i joined in the gameboy craze for awhile.

my friend brad became my roommate when i was 17 or so, back in the old days when i was dealing drugs in the projects, hahah. he had an xbox, and morrowind was THE GAME. i never looked back, and never will.

never had a dreamcast but i remember when they came out, i just didn't have any time for gaming then.

my first system was an Odyssey though, then coleco vision, commodore 64, nes, super nes, ps1, xbox,and finally the 360 and a rarely used ps3.

It was the things that made the Dreamcast great that assured the Xbox's sucess. 4 Controller ports, awesome games and great online plan. Then Xbox added a harddrive for memory and music and lets not forget the deep pockets of Microsoft. I have been playing video games since the late 80's and no other console has meant more to me then the original Xbox.

Never had one, I don't even remember it really, I dunno why. But I had an Xbox for about 5 months, then sold it. As for Sega consoles, I had the Genesis. Around the time the Dreamcast was out I was lovin' the 64 and PS1. From there on I was a Sony fanboy, until they decided to charge $600 for PS3s
