Now this shows some serious loyalty to his minions. The iHype has been out less than a week and it appears that crAPPLE is readying a cheaper iPhone (albeit with some stripped down functions). Nothing like screwing over you most loyal fans...

Whoa whoa whoa... lol, this post doesn't sound like a biased rant from an iHater...

Anyways, this is just speculation. The rumors of a line of iPhones including an iPhone built to be similar to the Nano have been circulating since before the iPhone's release. Also, it's a different product than the original iPhone. This alleged new iPhone is smaller and based off the nano. It's a completely different product. It's a lot more than 'some stripped down functions.' Instead of a full multi-touch screen, you get a small scroll wheel for control. The iPhone is meant for people who want to get everything and then some out of their phone. This supposed iPhone nano is meant more for general consumers who want a nice small phone / iPod and nothing more.

This isn't screwing over loyal fans, it's providing alternatives to other consumers. This is like a 6th generation iPod coming out for $400, and then a 6th generation iPod nano coming out for $200 a few months later. Different product, different consumers.

ps. It's been a week and a half, which is not less than a week.

The bottom line is that the iPhone is not a practical product, It is an overly expensive gizmo for what it does and does not offer. Anyone that bought the first gen needs their head examined for wasting money for nothing more than the coolness and wow factor. A second gen will be out within a year that will be better and less expensive. Just being blunt.

People pay to have the best and coolest new gadget and it's not as useless as you make it out to be. I would love to have one to be able to browse the internet so easily and to combine my phone and iPod together. $600 really isn't horrific. New technology is expensive. That is the bottom line. If I wasn't a teen with no income, I would own one right now. I don't know of a single phone out there that's better for what I would want to do.

What you posted is what I am talking about.

Apple came up with a phenomenal concept, and then made tons of poor decisions when implementing it. The phone is a shell of what it should, can and will be. For a device that is supposed to consolidate multiple tools, the majority of the core qualities are just average. The memory is light, the cellular network is rated low, the broadband connection is last gen, the camera is last gen, the battery looks to have a short shelf life and costs major money to address, etc, etc, etc. Yes it looks sweet and has some high end qualities in how it works, but for every cool innovation, there is a large negative from the core perspective that overrides it. It boils down to paying $600 for something that puts a high gloss finish on the outside, but has serious deficiencies when compared to similar products on the inside.

Apple is notorious for raping their loyal client base, but they do it in such a way that no one feels like they were ripped off or put through the ringer. Jobs is a salesman like none other seen in our generation. I have never seen a corporate leader have his customers whipped up into such a frenzy that they are actually waiting to be fleeced.
